Stealth LED DWC cabinet grow

  1. I`m stoked that there is interest in my log. Thank you for the help spotting the male. I chopped him last night. Unfortunately that was my largest healthiest looking plant, but I`m sure with all the new free space the others will fill in. I am unable to remove the net pots from the chopped plants because the root system is so entangled and large. Will this be a problem? I figure they will stay alive and start to reveg into a plant.

I took some pics of the plant I chopped last night so you can see the true color of the plants (no LED lighting).

Still not sure what is growing between these two branches?

14 days into flower and they all are showing sex. Both GDP grandpa larrys were males, bummer! But on the bright side both girl scout cookies were girls [IMG]

    Can you see the pistils?

So I know for sure that the my females are 2 girl scout cookie, 1 cheesy headband, 2 Budha Delight

    Keeping everything consistent
    Air temp lights on 70-73
    Air temp lights off 68-70
    PH 5.8-6.2
    EC 1200
    Humidity about 40%

  4. I`m about to take some clones since I know the rest are female. Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated! I have some clonex rooting hormone. Not really sure where I should take the cutting from or how many.

One of the Budha Delights has become the healthiest largest plant. It is most developed in the flowering process.

^^^ before taking cuttings and lollipopping.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1445265724.459897.jpg

I took 6 girl scout cookie, 3 Cheesy headband and 2 Buddha delight cuttings. I cut the bottom branches and used the cuttings with at least 3 nodes. I cut at a 45 degree angle just below the 3rd node. I removed the lower leaves and stems, cut the top leaves, scraped the lower part of stem (covered with root cube) and made a cross cut at the bottom of the stem with a razor blade. I then dipped in rooting gel and placed them in root riot cubes and sprayed them with a clone foliage spray that is supposed to reduce stress. I soaked cubes and added 5.6 PH water to clone dome with clone nutes at 1/2 of man recommended strength.

I hope I did this right, my next crop depends on it!

I moved my veg tent next to my cab so it could use the AC. I also set it up vertically this time. The light was too close to the plants when it was horizontal and was having probs regulating temp. I placed the clone tray in the veg tent.
    Air temp 72-75
    RH 40%-50%
Temp in clone dome is about 80 with humidity close to 100%.
I am planning on keeping them sealed for the 1st week, opening at least once per day to exchange air. after 1st week I will vent dome until roots are formed, then move the clones into DWC.

After taking cuttings and lollipopping. There is so much more room now and the light distribution is way better. It was a jungle before and was hard to tell which plant was which. I was concerned that it was over crowded and I made a mess, but now that the boys are gone and the girls are nicely lollipopped it looks like this might be a great success.

Started using the SCROG net. The big Buddha Delight was trying to take over the others. I pulled her a side and secured the branches to the net to encourage growth away from the others and to keep them all in the light.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1445266011.654720.jpg

They all look happy and healthy. Still growing very fast and the flowers are bigger every time I look. I can now see trichromes forming. They def small but I am surprised that there is not more odor.

  9. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but it seems my first grow is going to be successful. As I transition here from a newb to rookie I thought I would share what I have learned that seems to be common questions and concerns for new growers.

    - When germing you want temps in high 70s to low 80s. Humidity should initially be very high. A heat mat makes a huge difference.

    - a lot of the time you can be your own worse enemy. Try to keep your gardening to once per day and just do what needs to be done. Too much messing around with the plants and their environment does more harm then good.

    - maintain proper temp is a must! Cannabis is a hearty plant but needs temps to be in the high 60s to low 70s (veg and flower) at all times to thrive. I cannot imagine there are many people who grow indoors without climate control for their grow room. So plan on buying an AC and/or a heater. Keeping the right air and reservoir temp will make life much easier and eliminate most problems.

    - do not spray your plants with water! Let the roots find the water. Spraying them can and will damage them.

    - PH is critical. Invest in a good PH pen or monitor and calibrate regularly. I calibrate mine every week or so when I do the water change in the res. Also, a little bit of PH up/down goes a long way. Use a dropper.

    - determining sex is a lot easier then I thought. The difference between pistils and pollen sacs is night and day. When switching to 12/12 check the top nodes once per day. If you see anything that looks like a ball or seed shaped growing cut it down . Females will have white hairs. You have quite a bit of time from the plant showing sex and male pollen sacs opening, so don't stress.

    - always be overly conservative with nutes. You can always add more, but over feeding will stunt and damage plants very quickly.

I know some of this info may vary a bit with different strains, but seems to work for me.
Just like anything else, you get good at this from experience. I have learned so much from this 1st grow I know the next will be easier and better.
I'm sure I'll think of more to add if I'm wrong about any of this feel free to correct me.

Clones on day 8 after cutting.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446043777.190069.jpg

I was very skeptical about my cuttings. I read a lot of stuff saying that if you take them while flowering it will greatly reduce your success rate and most said they would not recommend. I was not even sure I was cutting in the right place. I`m on day 8 and I have a 100% success rate. Every single one has developed roots and look healthy.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446043797.950369.jpg

At day 8 they all have visible roots and some have managed to find their way out of the small hole in the bottom of the tray.

The large veg plant is the last DGOG survivor and I know its a female. Hopefully she doesn`t herm. I have abused her fairly bad, but considering she is looking pretty good.

When my veg tent was setup in different room I had it setup horizontally. This had the plants way too close to the light and I was unable to manage a correct temp (low 80`s). I`m surprised how much heat that 150 watt CFL puts out. She got heat stressed pretty bad and the high res temps were starting to create root rot.

How do I know she is a female? I had a timer setup to a 20/4 sched and the timer stopped working. The lights never came back on and they were in the dark for about 24 hours before I realized. Both DGOG plants in veg showed sex. 1 male, 1 female. I chopped the male and moved the tent into the same room as the flower cab and setup the tent vertically. I am now running the lights on 24/0. She is looking great. She returned to veg and the signs of heat stress have gotten better.

I am unable to remove her from the small DWC res because her root system is tangled with the chopped plants roots. My plan is to take as many clones as I can from her then destroy the mother. Then I will be able to move all my clones into the small DWC res while I wait for my flowering plants to finish up.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446045705.547054.jpg

Cloning is another problem with CG yielder max. If I would have continued using their design and instructions, I don`t think cloning would have turned out well. The dome that is included is too small for a clone. I tried using it and they are all smashed against the top. Also, not being able to vent (control humidity) is a problem too. So, I got rid of the propagation dome that came with my cab and purchased a new one for $10 that has a much higher dome and vents that can be opened and closed.

The 1st week I kept the vents closed to keep the humidity very high. I add water once per day at about 5.5 - 5.8 PH with clone nutes mixed at 1/2 recommended strength. They have responded very well.

Now that they have roots I have opened the vents to lower the humidity and prepare them for life in a DWC setup. I`m sure I could put them in DWC now and they would do just fine.

I think the setup I am currently using is going to work great for a perpetual grow. Kaddy, if you are still out there I highly recommend going the same route.

    10/28, 31 days of flowering

I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. They are looking great. The buds are swelling up and the smell is delicious.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446143260.829399.jpg

The Buddha Delight will definitely be done 1st. She is getting huge buds and all the leaves are covered in frosty looking trichomes.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446143273.782644.jpg

Girl scout cookies are fattening up and looking awesome. I think they will take a bit longer to harvest but I am guessing well worth the wait.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446143287.955009.jpg

The smaller Girl Scout Cookie hiding. I`m guessing I probably won`t get much from her because she is dwarfed by the others, but I didn`t have the heart to cut her. A good candidate for hash maybe?

You can see a little nute burn on the tips. I upped the nutes last water change and it was too much. I have been adding pure water and have now got back down to an EC that it staying stable (1540 from 1650).

Girl scout cookie is a really sweet looking indica. It naturally grows so beautiful that it looks liked it has been pruned.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446143512.817455.jpg

The next run I am going to pick 3 of my best looking clones (1 of each strain) and just run the 3. I think that is definitely the most you would want to run at once.

I took 5 clones from the DGOG that was in veg and chopped it so I can use the small DWC res for clones that I will use in the cab next run.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446584536.452802.jpg

I took the healthiest looking clones for next run. I was planning on only using 3 but there were so many good ones to chose from I took 4. Next run will be 1 Buddha Delight, 1 Cheesy Head Band and 2 Girl Scout Cookie.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446584521.607701.jpg

The left over clones are very healthy looking. I added 5 more DGOG clones, not sure if they will survive. The mother plant was stressed fairly bad.

Its looking pretty good. The cheesy head band and girl scout cookie look very healthy. I seem to be experiencing some nute lockout. The EC keeps rising even after I add RO water. It stabilizes it for a bit then it starts rising again.

I changed the water and lowered my EC from 1680 to 1280 at 5.6 PH. I`m hoping this fixes the problem.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446584593.141136.jpg

The Buddha delight is tarting to worry me a bit. A few of the leaves are starting to become discolored and twist. The buds look extremely healthy and they are swelling by the day.

I`m thinking this might be a cal mag deficiency. It had similar symptoms to this in veg, I upped the cal mag and it improved. The feeding schedule I am on says to stop the cal mag at this stage of flowering and I did. The GSC and CH are not showing any of the same symptoms so I am guessing that the BD just likes more cal mag due to genetics.

I brought my RO water up to 200 EC (100 PPM) with cal mag before mixing nutes. I mixed ripe nutes at 3/4 strength (1280 EC), PH to 5.6 and changed res. I will let the PH drift to 6.3 before adjusting.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446584629.261116.jpg

Buds are looking great. Super frosty! They have been swelling fast. I am thinking I will be able to start flushing in 1 to 2 weeks. I would like to see if I could bring some purple out in the buds by lowering the temp at night. Could anyone tell me what would be a good night temp for this?

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1446584653.855187.jpg

vvvvv one of the bigger colas on the BD.

The GS and CH are not maturing as fast as the BD. I think they will take a week or 2 longer. I plan on doing on flower the BD as long as possible and doing flushing for only 5 days. I will continue flushing the GS and CH for as long as I can after harvesting the BD.

The water change did not fix the problem. My EC continued to rise even after lowering the nutrient level substantially. There are a few leaves that look a little stressed and have a slight twist to them. I have decided that I am experiencing nutrient lock out. I flushed with pure RO water and clearex for 2 hours. I then disposed of the clearex water and refilled with PH 5.8 ripe nutrients at a low EC of 1320.

Hopefully they start eating again and I don`t experience any further problems. I am so close to harvest, if things aren`t going good by next res change I will just start flushing for harvest.

  17. Quite a decent job there for a 1st run there! Sucks trying to figure out what your girls what! Jealous of your space! Did the same thing started too many plants for the space, I thinned down to 4 plants but too tall didn't train them too well! But good job so far keep posting, I'll stick around, on everyday 3-4 times updating and checking!
