Stealth LED DWC cabinet grow

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Grow Journals' started by HiFL420, Sep 3, 2015.

  1. Kaddy, your cab almost ready to go? Are you starting from seed or clone? What genetics? You going to log your grow on here?

  2. Started germination , on day 3, soaked 5 seeds in water overnight, one germed, threw them into cubes , into dome , so far 3 of 5 have germed so far. Excited, nervous, my only problem i can't seem to understand, os topping off the res, and addng back the correct amount of nutes back in. I'm far from that step still.

  3. Sweet! You will figure out the nutes as you go along. The 1st week after you transplant to DWC do not use nutes. I ran nutes at 1/2 of cab grow recommended strength and it was too much (PPM 250). I changed res with RO water, 1/2 cab grow recommended cal/mag and a small amount of B vitamins that I picked up from my local hydro shop (PPM 150) and they got super healthy.

What I have been doing to maintain proper nute levels. (I`m no pro, but this seems to be working really well):
    - I keep 2 buckets of water. One with nute (leftover from filling res) and one pure RO water.
    - Check PPM everyday and record number.
    - If PPM has dropped top res with nute water, if PPM has risen top res with RO water.

I added a heat pad for germing and it made a huge difference. Dont over water, fill tray with only about 1/4 inch of water and do not refill until its close to dry. I also over watered my seedlings at first and it def slowed growth a bit.

Had a busy night last night. Put together my new germ/clone/veg tent. Very stealthy and I think its going to make a huge difference. I removed the bottom shelf of the cab, added the side lighting, changed the res, added bloom nutrients (raised PPM to 450)

I added the mini grow tent (24x24x36), 150W CFL, 240CFM 6" exhaust fan, mini USB fan for about $140 from amazon.

Week 3-4 of veg (depending on plant). Switched to bloom nutes, giving them 36 hours dark period before switching to 12/12 lights. PPM 450, Res temp 67, cab temp lights off 68, cab temp lights on 71, PH 5.9 (holding steady now), RH 40%.

Add two 45W side LEDs and T5.

  7. That looks great, where did you get the supplement side LED? I have the back ones that came when i ordered. Out of the 5 seeds, 3 germinated, sadly one didn't make it, not feeling good about the other 2. Starting another 6 seeds. Good learning experience, despite the set back. Once i put the seeds in the tray, should i turn on the T5 and run exhaust? How long before i remove the dome? I soaked my seeds, put into cubes, covered dome, they stretched quite a bit, and the seed husk doesn't want to pop off. I'm giving these two the night before i decide on thier fate.

  8. The LEDs were from CG, they were out when I ordered the cab and had to mail them to me. I decided to mount them on the sides instead of back wall. Yes, as soon as u put the seeds in put them under the T5 and run the exhaust fan if you are going to keep the door closed, If the door is open no need for the exhaust fan.

I didn`t remove the dome on mine, once there was 4 roots coming out of the rapid rooter I transplanted them into the DWC tank. I wouldn`t throw any away until you are sure they are completely dead (unless you just have more seeds then you know what to do with). Just because they are having a slow start doesn`t mean they won`t be good, takes about a week from germ to transplant. The seed husk will eventually fall off. Whats the temp and humidity inside the dome? What is the PH of water? Is it RO water?

  9. im using distilled water, the other two didn't make it. Had the dome off, under the T5, everything dried out. All the seeds I'm using are older seeds from grows that never happened. I put 8 more into some cubes , had dome on, temp was 79, humidity was 94%, that seems very high, so i poked some holes in the dome, turned on the mini fan, thinking i should get the humidity down. So much conflicting info out there, some say no dome, low humidity, or high humidity is fine. I'll see how things progress the next few days.

  10. For germ I think you want high humidity.... I wouldn't poke any holes, just make sure you open it a couple times a day so some fresh air can get in

Looks like one plant is already showing sex. Looks like pistils.

Any input would be appreciated. Look like a girl to you?

9/29 Five days into flower. After I switched to flower nutes the PH has been stable and very easy to manage.

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1444261784.059244.jpg

I left on 4 day trip and everything looks great. PH only went up .4 in 4 days and plants drank about 2 gal of water. Nute levels dropped slightly (EC 1050 before 940 after).

    Light on temp 72
    Light off temp 68
    Res temp 67-69
    PH 5.8-6.0
    EC 1050

10/6 eleven days into flowering. I chopped one because it looked like a male to me. I hope I was right.

Does this look like a male?

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1444318892.290628.jpg

I cut the stem about 1" above the net cup. I am unable to remove the net cup because the roots are tangled with others in the res. Will this be a problem?

  14. 10/7 I lollipoped and cleaned up any unhealthy looking growth. I plan on giving them a few days to recover, then will be taking clones. I`m hoping they will all show sex by then. Everything seems to be happy and healthy. I think my only prob is the plants are competing for space, but when they all show sex I`m sure a lot of space will be opened up.

Cleaned up the bottom of the plants and increased the cal/mag a bit. I had some spotting on some of the fan leaves and I suspected it was cal/mag deficiency (from reading this forum). After increasing cal/mag it disappeared. All of the leaves look dark green and healthy and them stems are bright green.

The only DGOG plant left turned out to be a male. I chopped on 10/8.

The largest, healthiest looking plant that I earlier thought was female now appears to be either a male or a hermy. I`m highly considering chopping tomorrow.

  19. Looking good & coming along nicely. I subbed!

Yeah man, that was a male, as is the first two pics from tonight. Hard to really see shit w/ the led. You're fine as long as you catch them before they open. If it's got nuts, chop that mother fucker!.

  20. I'm subbed! Keep the updates coming, I'm interested to see where it goes for you. I'll be back later to post more and have a more in depth chat with you. Cheers!
