Looks very nice... You know the one guy posted about frost didn't matter...

After thinking about that.... Fruits and delicate flowers wilt...

But this is a weed.... Seen soy beans left in the fields ?

That's why I quit worrying about it...

    I wouldn't chop early...

If I know of a frost... Just like tomatoes... I'll try to cover the plants...

    and stretch out the season...

I'm in the same boat with you ....Minne-Snow-da Land

We're already in a short budding season.. ( Starts so late )

    Cutting early shortens it more...

Also... This is why I'm buying a scope.... Getting a closer look to be sure.

  2. I have kept plants through many a frosty night and they were fine. Some say it improves them. I don't know, but letting sativa go into the late fall makes for better weed.

A really hard freeze will kill the plants however.

    Good to hear...
    Since I haven't smoked in YEARS (19)
and the Crop is down to TWO PLANTS...
I think I can take a chance and prove that theory about Frost...
My Mini Microscope is on the way... So when the trichomes are right...
    She gets Harvested...
Otherwise , I'm feeling better about them going the distance...
Which means the Seeds I'll be getting from pollinating a few buds
will be a good strain for this area...
    I have a few Clones...
I'll probably end up pollinating some buds on them too...
Since I have saved the Male to use in the Future...
    .
    Northern Minne-Snow-ta here...
    You know.... WAY up dare...
    .
PS The pictures I posted a couple days ago...were from 3 weeks of budding...
I went back today to see WHEN it started...
So really... They are looking pretty good to me...
I'm hoping for DONKEY DICKS !!!
    HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
( Probably won't happen THIS year... Lots of set-backs )

  4. Update. Projected harvest date... 10/17/15

  6. Sorry to tell you the bad news: I live at same parallel and the first frost is usually October 11-20. Those plants look like they are only about 2 weeks into flowering. The only option you have, IMO, is to let them go until frost or freeze comes, then pick them. However, I don't think they will reach full maturity. If you get lucky and get another 4 weeks you might get decent trich formation but it won't be at its peak.

  7. That post was from 9/2/15. They have doubled in size and the trich formation as well

  8. Whatchya think groot? How many more weeks am I looking at?

  9. I think you need the scope to see for sure...

I'm watching the weather... North of the 49th here...

Wife sez COOOOLD soon... I said 34... she said do you wanna chance it...

I'm thinking about setting up for frost.... covering it at night like a tomato plant...

Because they are looking GREAT.... But I want more time...

a one time frost can mess it up... past that... it looks cold... but not a game changer.
    .
Scope yer plant... a cheap scope is under 15 bucks at walmart...
    .

  10. Just got me a scope going to get some pics to y'all soon

  11. Sounds fun! I have yet to try and make seeds or mate any plants. On my very first closet grow years ago, I pulled and brought a couple males out to the back yard so they wouldn't pollinate anything, up in my garden. Even then I was paranoid my closet grow would get pollinated, so I eventually I just cut them down. It didn't matter though, because one of the other plants I had in my grow was a male and the other, I believe hermied ~ so it was ultimately a bust grow and I cut it all down anyway...

  12. I can see the difference in the seed buds and the sansi buds on the same plant...
The seed buds white hairs turned brown/orange right away...it was done "looking"
Then it started making the seed pods...

It's funny.... I never knew you could pollinate "PART" of the plant...
I thought the whole thing would go to seed...
So this is pretty cool getting good smoke AND future seeds...

  13. Now yer in Business....

Time means very little... ( ok... it helps )

What the Trichomes are doing is what your looking at....

Glad you bought a scope !

  14. Even though I'm hearing the plants will take a frost...

I'm still kind of worried It might shorten the Bud time...

and right now... It's packing it on Donkey Dick...

Ok... Not that good... But a smaller Donkey maybe...

Here are some simple Fence Stakes I pulled up from

    the fence around my plants...

I put them in the ground so I can drape sheets on them...

We are getting scattered Frost tonight...

Then it looks like it's up into the 40's at night...

So I want to protect them.... That's a week or more of Budding...

and she's packing it on fast now...

  15. Good choice, I wouldn't risk it either... Hopefully you don't have to cover them too long!

  16. Tucked in for the night...

Should have a lot of time after... I'll take a week at a time...

The stakes will stay in place...

I can clamp the sheets on at night when needed...

Take them off in the morning...

Light frost on the house this morning... Not on the Lawn...
    Our lake is STEAMING....
Thought it would be good down there... Walked down there...
HEAVY frost.... Glad I covered the plants...
I think it's clear for a week or so now...

That's a PRODUCTIVE week... A week now is GOLD !!!

    Bud baby , BUD !

  18. My freak'n Scope in still "On the way"

Fuck'n thing is on a SLOW BOAT FROM CHINA...

Anywho, in order to satisfy my curiosity...

I used an Eye Loupe with a Magnifying glass...

Then I got a good close-up view of the trichomes...

Results.... I'm in the money... They are all cloudy...

I want to wait til they turn orange/brown...

But if all goes Tits up now.... I'm safe...

No clear... all cloudy , So I'm close to the orange/brown...

a lot of the hairs have turned orange/brown...

Hope the seeds have had time to develop...
    .
Got my Mason jars all picked out... Gotta clean them...
    .

  19. If I were you, I'd chop them before you get a solid frost. I haven't had to contend with that (I've been harvesting last few days) but around here we're always pushing tomatoes until frost. It destroys the leafy matter, I'd think it would kinda turn buds into goop.

  20. Last night was a good heavy frost...
The sheets I covered the plants with , did the job...

I didn't pull the sheets off til the Sun had melted all the frost in the area.
I did peek under them this morning... The grass on the ground was untouched.
Growers say the frost is fine.. I'm not worried about anything turning to goop...
Even if they froze....Crops here don't get destroyed... More of a Freeze Dried...

I'll keep watching the weather and the Trichomes...
My short term goal is another week... Weather looks good...
and looks like the Trichomes need it....I want Couch Lock...
These are the BEST BUDS I've ever grown...
The smell when LST is Mouth Watering...
