Haze #1 outdoor grow questions

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by Jimbo_285, Aug 31, 2015.

  1. I have a Haze #1 plant growing outdoors that is over 8 feet tall. It was started indoors by a friend and given to me to plant.(lotsa nice places around here). It started budding mid-July and here are the latest pics. It's been flowering for 6 weeks but I've read this strain needs 10-13 weeks to mature. That puts me at the end of October for harvest which right when we get frost. Can anyone look at the pics I took and tell me how far along this plant is or how much more it has to go? This is my first outdoor grow and don't know what to expect.

  2. I would be surprised if it was ready in under 13 weeks. The longer the better for a haze .!!

  3. The only problem is the possibly of a freeze. I'm at latitude 41 north so we usually get our first frost October 11-20. I guess this one is going to be a halloween harvest! July 20-October 20 = 12 weeks...gonna be close

  4. It can handle a light frost. It can't handle a hard freeze, but you can still harvest immediately if a hard freeze kills it.

I honestly don't think it will really be at its peak until at least Thanksgiving. I have told you (I think) how I used to grow bag seed sativa, and I would cut the tops around Halloween (because I wanted something to smoke) and leave the rest of the plant out. The strongest and tastiest buds were the ones I cut in the very late fall, after Thanksgiving.

Caveats - I haven't grown any kind of sativa for years, and I have never grown haze per se...

  5. Longer is right.. You'll want to run that one as long as possible for the best kick.. Take her the day before the 1st hard killing frost.. Being your first outside run I have to ask if your doing any IPM ?? (invasive pest management) if not you'll likely need to in order to get a useable harvest.. Depending on your location and what you'll have to fight.. Here in the South West USA it's powdery mildew and caterpillars.. AKA bud worms.. Green Cure for the mildew and BT for the Caterpillars.. Weekly spraying of both insures a clean organic as I can get crop free of both PM and cattie crap and the resulting mold it causes..

My caregiver told me that Haze #1 can grow to heights of 18 to 20 feet. I didn't believe him but I do now. My plant is a fucking Christmas tree...some serious bending was in order to keep it out of sight. As far as pests go no problem so far except a deer ate one plant a few months ago. A bag of Milorganite solved that problem.

  7. I'll have to check this Green Cure out... I think I live, only to battle PM. I've tried some fungicide oils (fish & neem) along with high PH water and H202. Oh yeah, and the crazy expensive PM wash which is probably the same as Green Cure. I haven't tried the milk and garlic concoction I often hear about yet either...

I underestimated PM in my last grow... first and last time! Now, I can spot PM at distance and I come in with bottles blazing as soon as I see it. I have 4 big ladies sitting outside as well. It's been raining for what seems like forever already and I need to get out and look at them. Hopefully we only have a few more days before we get back to seeing some sun!

  8. Green Cure is 99% Potassium Bicarbonate.. You may have better luck finding it in bulk 1 pound sacks for use by wine makers..

usual mix ratio is 1 table spoon per gallon of water..
