Stealth grow tent questions

  1. Hey everybody, so I have a plan for a small stealth grow tent, but I still have a couple questions that I was hoping someone here could answer.

My tent will be 2.6 ft X 2.6 ft X 5.3 ft and will be placed in my bedroom closet. I'll probably be using a pro grow 260 LED light and probably some cfl's if extra light is needed. I'll be using a 6" hurricane inline fan with a fan speed controller and a duct silencer, and a 6" phresh carbon filter. The tent will be for 1 plant, which I was planning on growing in a hempy bucket and scrogging.

Now the questions I have are regarding the smell, ventilation, and plant training method. This tent has to be stealth, so I have to eliminate the smell. I've heard that it's not super difficult to control the smell from one plant, but would the carbon filter take care of it completely? I was also planning on getting some kushley all natural odor eliminating spray as a second method of smell control. It's not a problem if it smells a little bit in my room, just as long as it's not detectable in other parts of the house and outside the house.

Unfortunately I can't vent the exhaust from my tent directly out the window, so I'll have to vent it into the same room, but the closest where the tent will be has no doors and I can leave the window open and I can leave the bedroom door open at times with the ceiling fan on to bring in fresh air. Will this work, or will I experience problems by doing this? I've heard of other people doing this and still getting good results, but I'm most concerned if smell will become an issue if it's vented this way. This will also be my first indoor grow and I wanted to try and maximize my yield by scrogging since I'm only doing one plant in a smaller tent. Would I be ok with doing this, or is scrogging too advanced for a beginner?

  2. i have 3 very smelly plants. i have an ipower 6" fan and filter. there is absolutely no smell in the room. even with your nose to the passive intake, there is no smell. the moment i open the tent it smells. not overpowering, but enough. your going to use the led so heat shouldnt be an issue. i'm running a marshydro 300w in a closet and there is no heat whatsoever. i've added 3 led's to my tent with a 600w and the temp never changed. i dont think the ceiling fan will do you any good by fresh air. leave the passives open on the tent and if your fan is good, you'll have enough negative pressure that it will suck cool air in. now, if your tent is hot inside and you vent it back in the room, your circulating hot air. i learned this the hard way. i would find a way to vent it out somewhere else. if you really wanna scrog.....read read read, then read some more on it. ive never done it but will do it my next grow.

  3. Well like you said, I don't think heat will be an issue since I plan on using LED's so hopefully there won't be much heat in the tent that will end up being circulated. But isn't that not the only issue? I thought that I've heard that the exhausted air is used up and lacking in co2 unlike fresh air. I would like to vent it out somewhere else, but there is literally nowhere to do that. The window is on the other side of the room and it can't be done discreetly. Will it be ok if I have the window open and I'm pulling in fresh air from outside? I can also leave the door open at times to let more used air escape and let new air in. What kind of filter do you use, and have you heard wether or not phresh is any good?

  4. if the window is on the other side of the room, i highly doubt it will bring in air from over there. i have small oscillating fans on the floor around my tent circling the cooler room air towards the passive intakes at the bottom. you could try doing what others do and vent in the attic. i havent. you will need to leave the door open unless the closet has an ac vent. some do some dont. what i started in didnt and it go hot...fast. and that was with cfl. if thats not an option, then you can run ducting up to the top of the door, and it will vent out to the top of the other room. hot air rises, remember. and you might be ok with the door open. as far as smell, with only 1 i think you will be fine, but with mine, i have it vented out a window. when i pull the ducting off the window, the exhausted air has a bit of smell to it, but it smells like hot green plants. there is no trace whatsoever of weed. if you have a garden and you put your face in it in the middle of summer, thats what mine smells like, but only at the end of the duct. i have put my nose to the window on the outside (2nd story thank god) and i smell nothing. dont hear anything either.

those are what i have. the fan is loud on high, but when i use the controller, it gets quiet. the filter is great so far. i think after my next grow though, i'm going to upgrade the fan and filter. i dont know anything about phresh, but i have seen a ton of people use it. so it cant be too bad. my stuff is all 6" and the fan and filter are huge. i wasnt expecting them to be the size they are. as you can see, the filter is in the tent, but i dont have room for the fan. so that might be something for you to think about

  5. I don't have access to the attic unfortunately and my closet doesn't have an AC vent but like I said in my first post, my closet doesn't have any doors and is open to the rest of the room. There is an AC vent not too far away from my closet, but how will that help me? I can only leave the door open when I'm home, so it won't be open all the time. I'll do some more research on phresh filters before making my decision, but they sound good. It seems like ventilation is my only issue and I really need to find a way to solve it. I thought about getting one of these twin window fans to help air movement, do you think that would work? They even make some with independent motors so you can set one to intake and one to exhaust. So maybe I can pull more fresh air into my room with the help of this fan, or maybe even attach the exhaust ducting to one of them and then put the fan on the exhaust setting. 6. i just saw this fan tonight at target. looked ok to me. didnt see that its independant of each other though. running a duct from the ac vent to the bottom intake of your tent might help cool it a big. mine was completely across the room and i hung it from the vent all the way to the bottom of the tent. it worked, but i didnt like the visual look of it. it cooled my tent by about 4 degrees. i pulled it off, opened the passives, added some tower fans in the room oscillatiing and its the same temp. yes it sounds like ventilation is your issue. and without proper ventilation, you will probably have issues.

  7. With no closet door and one plant you won't have an issue with depleting your CO2 and unless your scrog is very successful I doubt it'll produce enough moisture to cause problems but if it's that successful you may have to fight the temptation to add more plants to your grow which would cause problems. If it was me I'd probably grow a plant and see how that goes before doing a scrog.
