Ignorance on marijuana

Discussion in 'Real Life Stories' started by jbadoobs, Aug 28, 2015.

  1. Recently my mom found out I have my MMJ card, that I have for nausea. Marijuana suppresses my nausea great but my mom just thinks I have my card just to get high and she said I'm "just using an excuse to get high." I tried to educate her and show her some statistics and researches done about the medical properties but she still refused to accept the fact that what she knows as a drug is able to have medical use. I'm 18 and live under her roof and unfortunately for me I was given an ultimatum. I could either move out and pay for my own college or pass a piss test in 30 days in order to stay at here. I chose to stay at home and stop smoking and now my nausea is almost unbearable at times. In my opinion my mom needs to settle down a bit and spark up a couple bowls herself and loosen up a bit but then again it's her house. But my point is that propaganda and false information is almost nearly impossible to erase from society so I think in order to make a change is by educating the many benefits for patients and/or recreational users because personally ignorance just simply pisses me off.

  2. Get used to it mate.
The world is full of ignorance.

    No offence to America btw
But man a lot of your parents are OTT with these drug tests lol

  3. I had a guy at work tell me dabs are cancerous and highly addictive, I laughed at him called him an idiot and pointed out how wrong he was

  4. Her house, her rules...

Your position is not helped by the fact that some jurisdictions issue a card to anyone who can afford the office visit to see the doctor...and she is clearly aware of the fact that those jurisdictions do no substantial follow-up.

  5. Rats don't like traps either, but we have holes in doors and floors. When bored, give a dam.

First off when making any argument face to face be as unaggressive as possible. diplomacy is your friend here

You want the other person to objectively see it from your perspective. It's not uncommon for anyone to stick to the beliefs they've come to accept as the only truth. You have to find a way to make your mom understand you... on her own

Have you seen the movie Shutter Island with DiCaprio? I can't talk about it without spoiling an INCREDIBLY good movie but you should watch it and see the connection to your predicament

Is it possible for you to contact a (REAL) doctor and arrange for a meeting with your mom? Have a professional explain to her the benefits of cannabis for someone suffering physically

Good luck. And if nothing else works then I'm sorry but you're going to have play ball

Once again I can't stress enough tht when you want to persuade someone DO NOT be aggressive, insulting, stern or... undiplomatic
