So this is a little more hopeful. I believe this effort is being campaigned by Bill Wohlsifer, that libertarian dude that ran for attorney general last year. He's got really good views on legalization, wants a fair competitive marketplace, regulate cannabis like alcohol, and this initiative allows for home grows up to six plants. There's optimism with this one. Spread the word.

  2. I signed, but there are huge forces at play here in Florida that would never want to see full recreational legalized.

I think the state is way too family oriented for this to fly,,,,wish it would.

Nice profile pic bro [IMG] And, let's hope we can beat the snow-birds to the polls this time!

Edit: Oh i I see it's for legalization, would be sweet but losing for medical last election does not bode well. Still these damn snow-birds who claim residency down here and only live for half of the year hose us.

  4. deeper than that, our gov is DEEP in the pockets of big pharma

I really dont know how they can make that argument anymore the way they let things get out of hand during spring break. How can they say "Come to Florida, our beaches are family friendly", when a girl got gang raped in Panama city beach.

  7. this is a waste of time, three amendments, All will probably fail. This needs to be a combined effort. shit I had this guy at work tell me his cousin is on dabs a cancer causing highly addictive form of MJ, at one point I laughed at him and called him an idiot. Then told him probably doing more than MJ.

  8. Waste of time? Dude. United For Care campaign is just for medical, and very restrictive. The other petition for full legalization is being run by one guy with bi-polar who is accepting no donations for his campaign. Strictly grassroots effort. A little crazy if you ask me. This latest one seems legit. Give it a read. Plus it will be a professionally run campaign. The real deal. Hardly a waste of time. You could sign all three petitions and be able to vote on two of the three come election day.

  9. not saying there not good but UFC only made it because of the money, no other one has, we worked our asses off after the rewrite and started in July. I'm talking all the 2000's ones that never went anywhere.
It won't make it, UFC will be the only one to vote for, now if some millionaire puts his money into the legal one then yea it will make it.

  10. Most of the folks that signed for medical want recreational as well. This could very well just piggy back the effort UFC is providing given one could vote for both if both made the ballot. I think with Bill Wohlsifer running the show gives this campaign at least some clout for big money to jump in the game. We'll have to wait and see if that materializes. Campaign launch is tomorrow.

    Part 1:

  15. @Green Wizard. Sign all the cannabis petitions out there. There are six out there, 2 medical, 4 personal use. Thee are major obstacles that all these personal use petitions will have to overcome. Regulate FL does have NORML's backing however there are concerns with their campaign and their tactics. And NORML of FL is an aging volunteer group. The also potentially could be facing serious litigation themselves in the not too distant future. They are a non-profit group, this means that they cannot influence legislation in a sense of only supporting one PAC over another. That said sign their petition. All 6 petitions need a FL Supreme Court review. I can tell you that I am also the Operations Manager at F.O.R. (Florida Organization of Reform). Regulate FL has been using bullying tactics against the other PAC's in the hope that their petition will be a leader. There are several problems with that. 1) By doing so they create in-fighting amongst the PACs which enviably will divide the voter public; if they were to say sign all cannabis petitions it would be a sign of unity and we could get all of the petitions a FL Supreme Court Review. 2) Their petition creates a black market for cannabis ("transfer up to 1 oz to another resident", transfer has a very different meaning legally speaking, whereas gift is different and would not create the same black market). 3) They allow FL legislature a year before any cannabis is sold (think of Charlotte's Web, was supposed to start dispensing medication 1/1/2015 and has yet to produce a single gram) 4) The attorney's involved in authoring Regulate FL's petition either made some very serious errors in writing it or it was willful (I have worked in contracts for 5 years, I have seen better language written by first year law students) 5) They REQUIRE A LICENSE FOR HOME GROWS
@jmick sign this petition as well. http://dos.elections.myflorida.com/initiatives/ful... Also sign the Floridians for Freedom petition.
@Green Wizard you will see quickly that most of Regulate FL's support is in the Miami-Dade/Ft Lauderdale area. They do not have the outreach they claim to have. They do not know their audience. Which is why at F.O.R. we consulted with no less than 20 cannabis organizations and that includes attorneys which were involved in crafting some of the language throughout the country that now has legalization. The F.O.R. petition has better language in it. Offers more protections for the end user (DCF can't take people's kids because of it and law enforcement can't seize your assets). 4 oz of possession and 10 flowering plants is what FOR is proposing.

@Green Wizard United for Care is not a waste of time. It is simply another piece to the legalization puzzle. It could provide medication to children and all people that were seriously ill.
@Green Wizard RegFL was only 2 months behind FOR's final revision. FOR's first revision was approved back in March.
@Green Wizard I'll see if FOR can record James Hatcher's panel discussions at upcoming events and you tell me why it is you think this man has a clue and yet a college student with bipolar anxiety and depression has better orator skills. That is by no means an attack at you, but a fact that James can speak well and he knows his audience. He knows the benefits of cannabis. Hence why we ALWAYS refer to it by what it should be called. Research how marijuana got its name. It's inaccurate and only further's the oppositions position about "Reefer Madness". That is why we must reframe the argument. It must be called cannabis. It must be called personal use because "recreational use" accounts for a very small number of the people that use. Most use it to relax, treat anxiety, treat migraines, treat aches, treat pains. So they are considered personal use. This man doesn't understand the difference which is why he looks down a good portion of the time.

  16. It's not even close to one guy. Yes he is the sole chairman. That is correct. But we have hundreds of people already on the ground, out making real connections with people. There is actually nothing crazy about it. It's asking you as a citizen, as a FL resident, to stand up and fight for the things you want. Instead of allowing Mike Minardi and Regulate FL to take away what could be gained by other petitions that are written far better. Don't take my word for it. Read the differences between FOR's petition and Regulate FL's. Tell me which one protects the rights of FL residents better and forces FL legislature to get off its ass. Regulate FL gives legislation a year to implement licenses both for home grows and for businesses. Yes that's right you'll have to apply for a license to grow your own. Wait I thought this was treat "marijuana like alcohol", you can brew your own beer and wine correct? So they are not even following through on their title. However, I will tell you to sign their petition as it deserves a FL supreme court review. But I can tell you this, FOR's petition upon passage, will allow possession that very day of the allotted 4 oz's and 10 flowering plants. It gives legislature 6 months to get regulation and licensing figured out for businesses. This way people can get their wellness medication immediately. SIGN ALL CANNABIS PETITIONS IN FL!! We have to unite or this will be the story of how Regulate FL and NORML screwed FL residents out of legalized cannabis in 2016. So my suggestion to everyone is get involved.

  17. sounds like here in michigan...theres a shit government ran proposal and a decent one for the people.. but of course the shit one is in the lead for signatures because nobody actually reads anything

  18. You don't have to have a license to grow your own 6 plants under Regulate Florida.

FOR is cool, but you guys got less than 8 weeks left to get 70K sigs to make the supreme court review deadline. Honestly, I don't think the rest of the petitions besides UFC will make the deadline. In addition to that, 60% of the vote is needed to pass. Not even Colorado got over 52%. The odds aren't great for Florida.

Please read more carefully. Directly from their petition:
    Section e.1.b
    "(e) Regulation of cannabis.
\t\t\t\t\t(1) Not later than July 1, 2017, the department shall adopt regulations necessary for implementation of this section. Such regulations shall include:
    (a)Procedures for the issuance, renewal, suspension, and revocation of a license to operate a cannabis establishment, with such procedures subject to all requirements of s. 120.54, Florida Statutes (2015) or as amended;
(b)That licenses shall be issued only to persons of good moral character who are not less than twenty-one years of age and who have resided in the state for the preceding five years. Licenses to corporations shall be issued only to corporations whose officers and directors are of good moral character, not less than twenty-one years of age, and who have resided in the state for the preceding five years;"

Note the distinction it makes between a person and a corporation. Grey areas such as this create issues when raised to the FL Supreme Court level.

  20. Your point has no regard to personal growing, which requires no license under Regulate Florida.

As far as the language being of good moral character as it relates to a sole proprietor vs. a corporation. I see no issue here, but I ain't no law professor either.
