First State Legalizes Taser Drones for Cops, Thanks to a Lobbyist

  1.
North Dakota police will be free to fire ‘less than lethal' weapons from the air thanks to the influence of Big Drone.
    It
is now legal for law enforcement in North Dakota to fly drones armed
with everything from Tasers to tear gas thanks to a last-minute push by a
    pro-police lobbyist.
With all the concern over the militarization of police
in the past year, no one noticed that the state became the first in the
union to allow police to equip drones with “less than lethal” weapons.
House Bill 1328 wasn't drafted that way, but then a lobbyist
representing law enforcement-tight with a booming drone industry-got his
    hands on it.

  2. Buy a shotgun. I have actually been watched by a UAV, or what you call a drone. We were out fishing on a dock for rockfish at night and in the middle of no where on the Chesapeake. It was interesting given at the time they were still unknown to the public and me and my buddy had no idea what we were hearing but could not see because of the immense darkness of the area. So I dunno it didn't fuck with us it observed and moved on. Anything more, or into your property's airspace is illegal and you can sue for harassment, or shoot down the craft if it is legal to fire a weapon at your location. There are other ways to disable it, but they are sorta complex and beyond most people.

  3. You could always just shine a spot light at it.... Cant fly blind ;)

  4. spot light it and then shoot it down

  5. I can see drone malfunctions becoming a regular occurrence.

  6. Don't drone tase me, bro.

  7. Be careful taking advise from those who say it's legal to shoot down drones. This is a gray area and while you may be just fine, you also may end up paying for the drone and legal expenses.

  8. I don't know, just heard about a guy getting in trouble for shooting a drone down in his lawn on the news the other day. I don't know if there's clear cut precedent pertaining to drone interference and trespassing, probably depends on where you live.

  9. If that was the one in Kentucky or someplace like that, it was not so much the shooting down of the drone as it was the discharge of a firearm within the municipal limits.

There was also the case in San Diego where a drone was buzzing the crowd and got taken down by a well-placed t-shirt. DA elected (smartly) to reject charges after they had been presented to the office...

They are definitely a menace though...had someone trying to use them at a small airstrip where I was doing touch-n-goes in a single-engine a few years back...I had no idea what it was at the time, I just knew it was in my flight path as I was on short final and just feet above the numbers...I had NOT intended to practice my aborted landings that day. But I got one in...

I forgot to mention... Drones are a bit bigger, and fly a lot higher than most people think...

And though I brought it up, a spot light is about useless against FLIR....

A Quadcopter is NOT a drone.....

You can accomplish the same thing with a RC Chopper...

IDK why one is so much more popular than the other, but any larger RC Heli can have a camera strapped to it...

  12. Actually a Quad copter fits the definition of a drone (an unmanned aerial vehicle) so while it's not a big drone like the Predator, it is still a drone. That above photo of a Predator Joker posted was taken about 50 miles from my house. They fly around here daily but I don't think I'd shoot one down, even if I was outside of town. Talk about kicking the hornet's nest.

  13. besides, I'f predator drones could be easily shot down by civilian weapons they wouldn't be much use on the battlefield

  14. I knew they were big,but didn't realise they wère that big!

wouldn't trying to shoot one down land you in prison?
Goverments dont take to kindly to destruction of thier stuff lol

  15. yea. Props to these shoot em.down folks for taking a stand but....

Its still retarded. Just put up some stuff to hinder their vision

  16. I guess if the whole 'have guns to defend against state' thing needs to be updated to include advanced radar tracking and heavy-calibre AA autocannons or missile systems

  17. Someone's got the butt hurt...

  18. Fucking hate those drones, with the cameras, they are popping up around here a lot too

    Feels pretty disgusting

All I can do is flip them off when they film my way tho

What makes you say that? [IMG]

  19. I'm down

    Seruoisly tho why not?

As the government says "if the government isn't doing anything wrong there is nothing to fear"

And its not like kids gonna haul AA turrets to school

As a libertarian/anarchist people might be surprised by my opinion on this

    But....

I have no problem with cops using drones
