Proper ways to consume marijuana for people with asthma?

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by AsthmaticStoner, Aug 25, 2015.

  1. I am 23 with what my pediatric doctor calls, chronic asthma. I have been smoking since I was around 15. I have only recently dabbled with vaporizers. I currently own a Arizer Solo and enjoy it. But I still find myself using my pipes and bongs more than the Solo.
I still don't worry too much about smoking with the condition of my lungs, but I'm starting to want to try safer methods.
in 2012 I had a lung collapse on me at work. I was taken to an ER and had surgery. They inserted a tube to get the lung supported again. They did not keep it in. They told me, however, that if it happened again it could be a lot more life threatening. I asked if it was due to smoking pot and they said absolutely not. I did lie, though, that I smoke only on weekends. I'm a daily user and normally always have some to smoke. So I'm never not smoking.
I can tell the difference between using my bong as to the vaporizer. Much easier to take bigger hits from the vape.
I'd like to try cooking it but I just moved into an apartment and don't want to raise too much awareness. I already smoke in the place but use fabric softener sheets to help cover the smell.
so my question is, what can I do, as someone with severe asthma, to continue using pot and not harm my lungs any more than they are?
I've been told exercise, swimming, a better diet. All of these I do the exact opposite. I don't exercise and eat real shitty.
but if I do choose to smoke, what's a good amount to use to keep my breathing under control? I take asthma medicine daily but I feel as if pot helps just as much as the meds.
I don't get out of breath too much, but I do if I'm doing rigorous activities. Or lifting and carrying heavy stuff. I feel like it doesn't happen as often when I smoke. I used to have bad attacks and had to use my inhaler every four hours like it suggested (as needed and at least after four hours after last use). Sometimes I'd have to use it before the four hour limit. I also had a nebulizer that I would use weekly when the attacks got bad. But as long as I can remember, it's died down a lot, and I believe it started when I started smoking.
I have a peakflo meter which meters my lung capacity. You blow into it and it shoots a little pin up the bar. The numbers range from 0-600. I would test it before I took my asthma medicine, after taking it, and after smoking. The numbers weren't significant in difference, but after smoking the numbers would be about ten points. I stopped doing the experiment though. I did it mostly to assure my grandmother that it wasn't doing any harm to me.
so I'm going to end it here and let you all suggest away! Props to you if you read through the whole post!

  2. Talk to a doctor. Please dont ask for medical advice on the internet, thats asking for trouble. Vape and edibles are your only 2 choices if its that bad but tread carefully

  3. got the asthma too.

Pot helps. Thc and the cbd help dilate and reduce inflammation.

But for me exercise is the best medicine.

As to the combustion methods, look into a activated carbon filter/ adapter for your bong it helps a lot with the tar that is in the smoke

And switching to hemp wick. Is a good choice to. It just burns so much cleaner. And lessens the harshness of the hit/ your throat feels better

  4. I also use hemp wick, I forgot to mention it. I guess I'm doing the best I can already. Aside from cooking it. I'll try exercising some also. Do you have a daily routine?

  5. low temp dabs of solventless grown yourself

  6. not rilly a routine... Just bike about 3-4 times a week for a couple hours. With a sustained speed run in there to

  7. Do you take any meds for the asthma if so what are they? I took Bronkaid for a while for non asthma related purposes and noticed i could take huge hits while on it. Just saying its something to think about since most meds open your airways you could be taking much larger hits than you realize which will of course make things worse

  8. I take symbicort and spiriva. I used to be on singulair at night but I stopped because I couldn't afford it and couldn't find it for free. I was also taking shots of Xolair (I think it's called that) but then ran out of free shots and had to stop that also. They were $300 a shot

  9. just got a carbon filter today. Tried it with some ice, hemp wick, and fresh cold water. Smooooth!

  10. Solvent less hash dissolved in to a glycerin tincture. Bubble hash makes no smell when producing it compared to edibles. Then take that and put it in a sealed mason jar of glycerin, no smell gets out. You can set a sealed mason jar in a small crock pot to heat and decarb the solution. If you have serious lung issues no matter of smoking or vaping is a good idea in my opinion and edibles or tinctures are the way to go.
