Have anyone of you guys tried out the 300 Watt GalaxyHydro LED Lights?

  1. Hey everyone.
I've been getting very interested in growing and from most post LED lights seem to be really expensive. The LEDs i'm looking at would fit perfectly into most full sized computer cases which is my main reason for wanting these. But i'm not sure if the price is to good to be true [IMG].
I mainly want to know if any of you have had experience with these lights and if not, what would you recommend for a PC grow? Here is a link to the lights on amazon Amazon Galaxyhydroâ„¢ LED Grow Lights
    Thanks!

  2. I have that exact same light you're looking at. I use it for vegging my ladies it works well for like 1-3 plants in veg but I wouldn't expect any crazy yields from it using it to flower. I have right next to a 400 watt mh and the HID light kicks it's ass. Then again the galaxy hydro is only pulling something like 180 true watts so not really a fair comparison

  4. I feel it on that, another led would definitely be nice. What size space are you growing in? Any specific amounts you're aiming for yield wise?

  6. If you want a good quality LED, then you're going to have to put some money out to get it. The cheap ones are just that....CHEAP. If you want to know the facts, then don't ask other's opinions about these lights. Get down and do the research on them and figure it out yourself. I think you'll see very quickly that there is a huge difference in the quality ones made here in the US and the cheap ones thrown together in China or wherever they build them at. The lights are put together with cheap components by cheap labor and aren't anything I would care to stake my grow on. I don't think this forum is partial to the Mars Hydro brand. It's just one of the more affordable brands of LEDs that one can buy these days and many people buy these because they can afford them. The only personal experience I have with a brand is the KIND lights. As far as I'm concerned, they are a Cadillac in the world of lighting. But they are expensive and most people either can't afford them or won't pay that much for a light. LOL. Everybody wants LEDs....not myself, mind you, but all the hype that has been put out there about them have made them the "it" thing to have in the growing world. In my mind, they are terribly (the quality ones) overpriced right now and are not something you MUST have to grow fine bud with. I've been using hps for years now. The plants love it and it works well. My biggest advice nugget would be to not skimp on your equipment. If you can't afford it, save till you can. Otherwise, you'll just end up having to buy things twice...or more. It took me nearly 2 years and about 10K to be able to gather all the components to our grow. We are not wealthy people and I had to put it together one piece at a time. And though it was a long wait, I'm glad I took the time and put it together right.
If I were you, I think I would try to come up with a grow tent or something a little larger than a computer case to grow in. Space is at a premium with these plants and if you're actually trying to grow enough to have some to smoke, you're going to need a larger space. Pruning a plant down enough so that it can grow in a computer case isn't going to yield you very much in the end simply because the plant won't be able to grow large enough to produce much. Get on the threads here in the forum and do some reading. I'm sure you'll run into others who have tried the same thing and weren't happy with how it worked. You have to put a lot of work into growing these plants and if I'm going to work that hard to get one from seed to harvest, I definitely want something to show for it. Good luck. Always happy to help if I can. TWW

  8. He's actually right man buy quality stuff to start off with otherwise two of those cheap lights will you cost you the same when you have replace one or realize that it isn't cutting it in terms of lumens per square foot. The galaxyhydro isn't something you really want to flower with, which means you'll spend even more on light. I prefer mh/hps. A 600 watt hps can be had for 180$ with an air cooled hood and will cover way more space and give you a shit ton more yield especially in a 2x4. I tried growing in one of those my first time and 3 weeks into flower I realized there was no way I could finish in it because the plants got to big too fast. That's why I have a 4x8 now lol. Just my .02 cents though take my advice or leave it just trying to help a fellow blade out

  11. Well you little pissy JERK!!!! Don't get on a MMJ forum and pose questions and ask for suggestions if you're going to be a DICK when somebody tries to give you honest, tried and true advice. You go right ahead and waste your time and money setting up a tiny little computer case to grow. When you flower one off and don't get any harvest out of it because it's tiny, come back and tell me how I am wrong. YOU WILL FAIL because you don't have the ability to listen to others who DO know what they're talking about. God help you! TWW

  12. Haha this thread took a turn fast, I'm buckled in for this one,
You lot will never beat my light even the sun don't stand a chance,
There's only 1 draw back 12/12 I can manage with it but for 18/6 I can't keep my arse hanging over the plants for 18 hours because I tell ya the light that shines from my arse Is bright as fuck
Just trying to lighten the mood

  14. Why are you acting like a little kid people are trying to help you. No ones shooting down the galaxyhydro 300 it's just simply inadequate for the space you. It's only pulling 180 watts with 8 sq. feet of space that's only 37.5 watts per sq foot which isn't very good. Either you could buy another one of those for 120$ or buy a 400 or 600 watt hps and yield a solid amount from it because that amount of money isn't going to buy you a good LED light. A 400 watt hps equals 50 watts per sq foot and a 600 watt equals 75 watts per sq foot and will make 4-5 months of your time worth while.

This is good advice, but if your like me (and the OP it seems) i dont have an option but to grow in a PC case. The only thing I can speak from is experience with my PCcase grow and LED light. Heres what I grow in, its really stealthy and non smokers dont notice anything year round. Its a full tower ATX case with an Ebay LED COB series 100w. The led is 3 years old now and for what its worth its okay. Grows the top bud fine but the lower ones grow a little slower.

Not a great pic of my light but here it is
    [IMG]

My average yeild is 7-18 grams per plant depending on the strain. I grow mostly small strains but thats not to say you wont get much in a PC case. You get what you put into it. Anyways with that said...

I am not too happy with my 100$ COB LED mostly because its too weak. Ive learned this over time. I did some research back then (there wasnt much then though) and thats why I went with a COB setup. Now, i would go with something better. My research has led me to AMARE white Cree LED panel that fits in a PC just fine. They make a 100w and a 150w and also looking at Advanced Platinum P150 both with 5 yr warranty. Much more power and better quality than my COB LED but ive learned enough to know you need to pay for quality lights now. I dont trust those cheap brands on amazon or ebay anymore. I dont know about galaxy hydro but they have people calling out the watt output on amazon reviews. now what does that say about the light/brand/quality? anyways my point is, you can grow decent stuff in a pc case obviously the more room you have the better. If your only option is a pc case like me then get a really good light from the start. your buds will thank you. so will your wallet in the long run :)

  16. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad with the Hydropnics Hut LED lights? Pls LMK as I am planning on purchasing one along with 2 other LEDs to compare before buying them for my whole room. New tech., eliminating the need for multi-bands or whites, providing a full spectrum from each diode, similiar to a COB but from the 3 & 5 watt diodes as well. All one exact color of the spectrum providing a uniform, intense light for our girls! Thank you! Surprised the LED users on this sight aren't all over it, plus 1/2 the price of comparable claiming companies out of the U.S.. Anyone????

  19. Can anyone point me to the galaxyhydro homepage? I cant seem to find one. If they don't have a homepage then that's a red flag. Lots of other options.
