transfer thc from alcohol tincture to oil tincture

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by fannypack1, Aug 25, 2015.

  1. hey guys!

sorry if this has been answered before.. i tried the search function but the key words are just too common to sort out what im looking for exactly.

i had made a tinc using coconut oil and mct oil as the base.. but didnt really consider i couldnt concentrate it much since it was oil. i ended up not using enough, and have a pretty weak tinc. so i started an alcohol tinc yesterday with some more herb in hopes that i can somehow either combine the two, and get the thc from the alcohol tinc to bind to the coconut/mct oil tinc, or evaporate enough alcohol off to make it a practical upgrade for the weak oil. i used 151 everclear, which was the highest proof available easily in my area. any thoughts? am i on the right track at least?

    thanks a lot.

That's what I do. Make an ethanol tincture with about an ounce of bud then boil away the alc and replace it with about 2 ounce of a hemp/coconut oil mix. In your case, you can simply add the oil to your already made tincture. What I would do is boil away the alc in a pan and then add your already made to he pan, heat the mixture up so it flows and pour it into your tincture bottle. I would then rinse the pan with a small amount of alc and save that bit in a bottle and use it in your next processing.

  3. thanks for the response.

do you suppose there is a way to have the active compounds bind to the oil without relying on the alc as a vehicle?
even if i evaporate off all the alcohol completely, i will still have 25% of the bulk of the liquid remaining, which will add quite a bit of volume to the tinc.

  4. Between ethanol and oil extraction, the former is the most efficient process for making weed oil. Plus I don't think you're left with 25% volume after the evaporation. 1 ounce of bud renders between 2.5-4 grams of oil, so basically a smudge or two of active ingredient(s).
