Do First Act players count? I always liked the look of the tele better but I feel you'd have more control with the strat. What do I know, though... I've always been a Gibson guy.
Stratocaster. Telecaster's are nice but I think the strat has an overall better more full sound, and you do have more control. I love my strat.

Get the Strat! I play a Jazzmaster but my first guitar was a Strat and it was fine. You can do anything on any guitar. There are even some metal guitarists who play telecasters. They're all versatile but everyone needs a good strat in their arsenal. I actually want another one. One with a maple fretboard. Maybe a red one, I miss my old red Fender Cyclone. Yeah, get the strat and learn some John Frusciante songs.
