Heirloom Strains

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by SuperMom, Aug 23, 2015.

 1. I am looking for the most natural heirloom or wild strains as I believe these are the most medicinal. Does anyone know any good oldies or have a list? Thanks

 2. Thai, Colombian red, afghani, Acapulco gold, lambs bread, maowie wowie to name a few. good luck finding any of them tho unless you have an old friend that might be still growin his bag seed from the times these strains were abailable

 3. look for what is called land race genetics. they are as close to wild as possible and grow best outdoors...

 4. Like Galaxy said you want Landrace strains. I would recommend Holy Smoke Seeds on the Attitude. They have a lot of interesting Landraces from various countries. However, human interaction with this plant has gone on for millennia and finding a true 100% Narrow-Leaved Drug varieties (what is commonly referred to as Sativa erroneously) or a pure Broad-Leaved Drug varieties is probably slim. You may be able to find a true BLD if you find "unworked" Afghani strains because that's the only source of what we now call "Indica" today. Hope this helps. I also firmly believe these varieties are going to become cornerstones of some truly medicinal strains in the future. They most likely hold lost terpene and cannabinoid profiles that have unknown medical benefits and could be used to treat a lot of different ugly diseases.

 5. If you want something potent, I recommend train wreck, but it is not very good for going out and doing things. I smoked half of a j and I fell off my skateboard and I stared at my friend eating a cookie for two hours. Also my mouth was extremely dry. But I was definitely medicated

 6. There's so much polyhybrid crap out there nowadays with asexual parentage in its lineage, that's hermaphroditic. just look for those older strains and landraces, although you'll plant quite a few seeds to find an acceptable phenotype, they haven't been bred to have massive trichomes density and overall resin content like a lot of these strains that have 2-4 phenotypes. Landraces do make some great flower though, I have an afghan pheno that's great

There's so much polyhybrid crap out there nowadays

This is totally true from a geneticists standpoint, and here's why. A true "polyhybrid" botanically is described as a cultivar with multiple parents. There for something like Original Haze (a 70's-80's "heirloom" but certainly not a landrace) is made up of Mexican, Thai, and Columbian origins is a polyhybrid variety, having 3 different parents that were used to create the strain. Sensi Seeds Ed Rosenthal Super Bud is also another example having 4 different parents. All of the current varieties we deal with are polyhybrids of polybrids. Cookies comes from an unknown Kush woth most likely a connection to OG which has lineage from Chemdawg (another polyhybrid) and a Lemon Thai x Pakistani. As for cloning all cloning does is make an exact copy of that plant genetically. Now this does not mean you won't see chemotypic/physical characteristic "drift" from the original plant you took the cutting from; which generally occurs pathogenically. However what it does mean is that you have perpetuated that same plant (genetically) to be kept for a longer period than it could have been because we are dealing with an annual plant.
