Nutrients or pests

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Jwhat201, Aug 23, 2015.

  1. My girl has just started flowering she's about 5 weeks old and I'm seeing her upper leaves are curling and the edges turning purplish, drying up, touch it it falls off. Looks like it's getting worse.

Now I haven't fed any bloom nutes yet because it's only been two waterings since I fed veg nutes. My schedule's usually nutes x no nutes x no nutes x no nutes x nutes.

I've also been seeing a few tiny white bugs, im worried theyre spidermites. Only seen a few though and killed them.

I'm wondering if this could be a pest problem, or more likely a phosphorus problem, or?

Hope someone can help, thanks in advance

  2. can you get a picture of the plant? is it in soil? spidermites are usually darker colored like red or black.

  3. Thanks for the reply man, gonna attach a better pic I just took

man that plant looks just too healthy for it to be a deficiency. I kinda thought it might be low humidity but thatd effect the whole finger of the leaf. im gonna go with pests. ive seen root aphids twist otherwise healthy looking leaves. can you find a way to check the roots with a jeweler loupe or pocket microscope?

Man I think that's what it is, looked it up holy shit. Found this on a article or something on here

Another method is watering your plants thoroughly with warm water. It has been said that warm water will kill all stages of insect life that lives in your soil. The recommended temperature of the water should be between 110-125 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the warmest you can get without totally damaging your plants.

This is basically the only thing I can do right now, but I have no thermometer and don't wanna hurt my plants.

Ive seen them walking around in the soil, the specs I see on the leaves they dont move, and stick on, hard to get off.

Don't go dumping 125 water on your plant. 1st of all that's not bugs. If it was there's fix's that don't require you boiling the roots. 2nd hot steaming water will damage you're plant if. It don't kill them. You're talking about boiling water at those temps. That's not warm that's blazing hot. Give us as much info about you're grow as you can think of. Environment, feeding, watering how much how often etc etc

Ahh, yea true that is hot eh. I seen bugs man, last grow too around the same time.

I'm using the same pot and soil I flowered my last grow in, promix veg & herb in 3-4 gallon pot. Fresh soil mixed in too.

watering whenever soils dry to the first knuckle, she's taking more in now so its a decent watering once every day or two.

was feeding veg nutes and fed calmag twice. Have koolbloom mixed to feed next. Schedule I'm using is Nutes - No nutes - No nutes - No nutes - Nutes. There's one more water then its her nute feed now.

Thermostat in the room's been at 60-70 up and down. Night time id have it a bit cooler. And I let fresh air in for an hour every day. Usually soon as the light comes on. And there's an oscillating fan always going.

    Ph is 6.2-6.5

    .

  8. I never said you don't see bugs I said that damage is not from bugs. Not all bugs damage plants. You'll see signs of them eating the plant. I take it you don't know your ph levels? How much of the recommended dosage if nutes to you feed when you feed?

60 is a bit on the chilly side. Its not going to kill your plant, just may slow things up a bit. I drop my night time temps but never lower then 65

  9. Shit man just saw the ph

all good haha, I edited that in.

But yea Im doing everything the same as my last plant and I didn't have this darkening last time at all. Just wondering what it could be. same strain too.

Feed nutes at 1/4 of the recommended dose. Yea I usually don't have the temps as low as 60, just thought this was mites and I read colder temps stops them reproducing, now this happens idk wtf to do haha.

Maybe when I feed bloom nutes it will fix her up but I dunno, seems like something different to me. Did you see the pic?

Anyone else have any opinions? Thanks everyone. Night time now for her see how she looks later.

  11. ive definitely seen root aphid damage that looks like that. in person. not all bugs eat leaves. root aphid's eat roots. hence the name. root aphids

No opinion on whether warm water is wise or not, but 125F is not even close to boiling. It is, quite frankly, towards the upper end of the hot water most people get out of their tap. Some get even hotter than that depending on how they have their hot water heaters set.

Boiling is 212F...another 87 degrees warmer than was described here...

To perhaps put it in better perspective...my pool was at 92 before the rains last week. And that was just from the sun. No additional heat sources...

  13. don't need no perspective if you haven't noticed people from all over the world post here. Fahrenheit, Celsius, gallons, liters I made a mistake it happens. Each thread is different. I'm just human. Was thinking Celsius.

  14. Nothing major today, hasn't ,moved to any of the other leaves. Probably water later tonight, then its nutes after that one. A buddy of mine recommended soapy water for a week or so and then after that if she's all good switch back.

I might do it anyway cause i did see bugs and even if theyre not whats doing it, who knows what else is in there.

    Opinions on this?

    Thanks everyone for your input

  15. Another hypothesis could this be from accidentally getting nute water on the leaves?

  16. Used scissors and snipped off the damaged parts on the leaves, fed her first bloom nutes feed last night. She's looking decent ever since :)

  17. Ph brah dont thow hot water on your plant thats just stupid wow i smack the fire out of u. Smfh.

  18. Everythings ph'd man

  19. Beginning stages of root rot or perhaps fungus gnats?
