Mystery Eagle Claw during week 4 12/12

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by ravinglogs, Aug 20, 2015.

  1. Hi,
I have been stressing out about these dumb plants. Nobody will help answer my question.

    A little info:
    Day/night temp 85-80
Soil - 3 gal transplanted from 1 gal during veg
No heavy feedings yet only 1/4 (2-8-4) and some calmg
Never got old enough to receive veg nutes.
I am NOT overwatering. One time I let them go so long without water they flopped over so I know it's not that, plus I'm not an idiot.

By the pictures below you will want to say N toxicity. I feed 1/4 strength 2-8-4 nutes. And I don't think I have ever fed more because as soon as I started flowering they have literally been magically clawing up.

My water solution is 6.3-6.8 (for soil) and I have tried only feeding 1/4. They are starting to starve but everytime I feed they claw up like crazy.

I have REVERSE OSMOSIS water and when I water them, THEY CLAW UP.

God I am about to smash my face into a brick.

I have checked runoff ph and all npk levels (bought a test kit) and nitrogen was high at first, no longer though, after many flushes.

Here are the photos a week ago

And today 8 hours after a NUTRIENT FREE watering:

    Plus 4 100w cfl 6800K

Do people even fucking read posts before they respond? Ugh.

I guess you could say that even though I said they are barely getting 1/4 str and are starving.

From what I've read there are 7-10 conditions that can cause this so read my post next time. I need someone intelligent to help me get to the bottom of this.

Just a guess but it looks like the roots may not be getting enough air. Make sure the pots have large enough drainage holes in the bottom so they don't sit in water too long. Also make sure to empty any water out of your catch tray so that the roots aren't sitting in water.

I had something similar happening when I didn't empty the catch tray and the very bottom of the root zone was submerged.

  7. Thanks for the response. They are in smart air pots with smart fabric, 30% pearlite mix. And I usually water until 10% runoff. There is not much heat so the runoff usually sits all day but evaporates after that. That probably isn't bad enough to cause that, do you think?

  8. Probably not with fabric pots. But my pineapple chunk looked similar that after sitting in water for around 4-5 hours. I know only the roots at the bottom were below water level. But perked back up quickly after dumping the tray. I would at least try not letting it sit in water to see what happens. I don't let mine sit in water anymore.

Hello, I've read your post and I was thinking, have you checked your runoff for pest? Put some run off in a clear cup and put over a light, just check for little white or maybe even clear bugs.
I had an issue a couple grows ago in the second or third week of flower. My plant looked like it wasn't getting any nutes or water..it started to claw up and I had no clue because I tried everything. I was taking out the runoff with a turkey baster and I noticed these little clearish bugs...they find the roots and start chopping and the roots don't get anything, total lockout. I decided to trash the plant because i thought it was too late for the neem oil or the dishsoap trick.

Your problem has to do with a fucked up ph level. It is called eagle claw ph nutrient lock out.
