Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome SUCKS

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by TooElevated, Aug 20, 2015.

  1. I've been smoking (mostly vaporizing) cannabis on and off for a few years now. I love the experience, and I've never actually thrown up from cannabis (except for when I overmunched... haha), but every now and then when I've been using every day with high frequency, I get a horrible and persistent morning nausea and appetite suppression - even the thought of eating grosses me out. It makes sense though, since the acute affects of weed are munchies and nausea suppression, that the symptoms from overusing would be the exact opposite as they are with most drugs.

I have found a few solutions:
    1. Get high - immediate temporary solution
    2. Take a hot bath
3, Stop getting high until symptoms subside

Yeah, getting high cures it, but waking up with morning nausea and inability to eat really blows. And I don't plan on being high once I return to school, so I really hope this doesn't persist. And yes, I can 100% be sure that it's cannabis causing this. I frequently take long breaks (1 month +) and when I resume heavy usage these effects return. It really makes me question whether cannabis is truly healthy for the digestive tract, let alone the brain. I do think it's fair to define this as an actual syndrome, as a lot of people I know experience this as well.

Like I said, I've never actually thrown up from this (I always stop before it gets unbearable). I just hate having these symptoms that are only relieved by cannabis use, and I CANNOT be high for every waking moment of the rest of my life. Also I should note, these effects became more severe when I began vaping, which is a more powerful form of administration than smoking.

  2. stop smoking weed if it doesn't agree with you..

  3. Yeah... No.

  4. Eat/drink something with sugar, the feel should pass within minutes.

I love my morning mt dew!

I have the same problem, but I don't think it's hyperemesis, which I've had before and which is pure hell. But if I smoke for more than a few weeks now I end up with zero appetite, wake up feeling like I've been punched in the stomach and am nauseous all day.

The best advice I can give you is advice I absolutely don't take myself, but I write from home for work and can afford to sit around being a miserable sack of self-pitying shit half the day. Coincidentally it was also the advice I was given when I had hyperemesis 10 years ago, so even if I'm wrong and you do have weed induced hyperemesis this is still good advice. Just eat anyway. Force yourself to eat regular snacks and small meals at normal times. I keep a packet of water crackers beside my bed if I need to be able to function like a normal person the next day, and nibble those while I'm still in bed, which makes a huge difference to the morning nausea. Green grapes, orange juice, and rice are also fairly non-offensive foods I find I can stomach if I have to, and which really improve how I feel. I think that your metabolism can get messed up really easily when your eating schedule is being dictated by the munchies, so set alarms if you have to and have something already prepared or easy to eat on hand.

  6. these are typical withdrawal symptoms, anyone saying it's not the weed is being stubborn - take a look at any withdrawal log or thread and people have some concoction from can't sleep, can't eat, feel nauseous, feel unhappy, etc. Cannabis vastly speeds up yuor metabolism and is a great weight-loss aid - how many fat stoners do you know?

you just gotta ween yourself off of it, start to smoke later in the day or not every day before you go back to school and it'll be a lot easier - it doesn't take too long to get your appetite back to normal especially if you eat like the other guy said - fruits are easy to digest and chockablock full of vitamins to perk you up, two things you need

  7. i had been going through this for the past month. I have been baffled wondering what it was. At firsfirst I was thinking that maybe I was nauseous in the morning from over muncching the night before so I didnt eat at night past a certain time and it still was happening. The one morning I woke up and didn't have any smoke to smoke and it was horrible the stomach flipping , gurggiling, the emptiness feeling but not hungry at the same time. I realized when I smoked it would go away. This morning I was scrolling lookin for a good thread and ran up on this one. I didn't even no what that word meant but something made me cliick this thread an ironically its about the same thing I been dealing with for the past month or so. I smoke everyday I been doing that for about a year. Like a g or two a day nothing crazy it SuckS feeling like that tho.

hope everyone finds a way to combat those feelings., have a good day and god bless !

  9. Hello grasscity community suffering from cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, I believe I’ve solved the mystery. After suffering with cvs for several years and hospitalizations, I tried new concentrate products, legal in my state, with no CBD. Higher THC 60%, but 0 CBDs.
Smoking for months with no sickness.
I am thrilled. The CBDs are screwing up the brain! Also, if you can only get weed, I also used probiotics successfully to some degree. They keep your gut balanced and help to control the confusion from CBD overdosing. But I used a ton of probiotics and you need good ones several times a day.

  10. Interesting what you say about the CBD. In my area it sucks there is only CBD weed available because the government thinks it is healthy and THC weed is bad. So stupid...

  11. It's the same in most places but there's still plenty of weed around.. you just have to buy it from dealers or grow yourself.
