    Quick idea of my grow:
    - Week 3 from seed

    - 8 x 23w (100w equiv) CFLs, running 24/0 (just switched to 18/6 yesterday)
    - Soil (4:1 ratio, 4 parts Fox Farm Ocean Forest & 1 part Perlite), 1 fabric gallon pot
    - No nutrients used yet, read several places FFOF should hold me off fine through veg period
    - Distilled water given once every 4 days (Or until dry first top couple inches of soil and pot weight less)

This problem started happening within the last week with one plant, and within the last few days I noticed 4 plants showing symptoms. Yellowing leaves (some just tips, some whole leaves). Leaves are also getting stiff/dryish, curling and twisting in one case. Some brown spots aswell on a couple plants. Stems are purple, some are stiffer than others. Got in PH kit yesterday, so I double-checked PH of distilled water today before watering and was sitting around 7. I used some PH down, maybe a little heavy handed, but still used it and it was showing PH 5.7-6ish (I have cheap digital meter and liquid dropper test kit). I should also mention they all went through a recent transplant 4 days ago, however don't believe it's shock related as it is also affecting one of my runts that I just took out solo cup today. Any ideas what this could be? Cal/mag problem? PH issue?

  2. You need bigger planters, and I would go with a little more perlite. Yes you should have a soil ph tester and a way to test your water. Your ph in your water should be 6.5. Make sure you see run off after watering so you don't get a build up of salt/dry nutes.
The soil you bought should be enough so you shouldn't have to use nutes yet...and I wouldn't.

  3. Thanks for the heads up. Do you think feeding them some Cal/Mag would be smart? Will try to get PH soil meter soon, I have a digital meter for water and liquid test kit aswell. Other than the yellow spots/brown on some leaves and occasional yellow leaf, new growth has been fairly rapid last couple days since their last PH-adjusted watering (5.8ish, will aim for 6.5 on next)...

Any other ideas & thoughts are welcome, please! Let me know what you guys are thinking....

  4. Are they getting worse? If not, just get your ph right and look forward to the new growth being nice and green. You were saying they grew pretty rapid, so they are still growing but look for your leaves coming in skinny...if it does, your probably still locked up. Make sure you change those planter

  5. I have a similar set up and similar issue. How did they turn out? What did you do to correct it and did it work?
