Why feed before harvest when growing in soil?
As most growers are aware, flushing before harvest is a highly debated topic. Many growers say if you are growing organic in soil there is no need to flush. Others say you need to flush no matter what. Then there are some people that believe flushing is just unnecessary altogether.
But there is one question that never comes up. Why feed before harvest?
Many growers believe that the plant already contains all of the nutrients that are necessary to finish up the grow for the last couple of weeks before harvest.
Rather than not flushing vs feeding, why not just water like you would a houseplant?
Just a little highdea in my head, love to hear yours
    Peace :D

  2. I grow organic, in large pots, and only feed my matured plants once before harvest, about 2 weeks from the day, 3-4 days before 'the day' I flush, pour 3 times the volume of the pot thru the rootzone, at most the girls are wanting a serious drink anyways, this perks the girls up for a blast in the sun or under a UV lamp just to ripen them struggling trics, also depletes the soils of any excess nutes as often I recycle a percentage of last years soil anyways, and removes any metallic aftertastes from the weed(citation needed) ....and whats really crazy about me...is often I do a 3 day water cure anyways, so I too don't really have to do this procedure, but do so outta habit from my urea and dwc days ....lol

I see it as a personal preference thing, and yeah it would be strain specific too

  3. You do have a different way of doing things. I'm curious, do you keep any track of your TDS when you feed your girls 2 weeks before, or when you flush? I'd like to know your readings.

  4. TDS..? no I have a meter if required, actually for measuring the TDS of my home made colloidal silver, but theres considerably argument as to whether or not thats an accurate guide

  5. Are you saying you flush, but are skeptical about whether or not your TDS is an important factor? Most peole flush for the sake of lowering their TDS.
