Growing weed in an economic collapse/apocalypse

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by ledhead0014, Aug 12, 2015.

  1. I am someone that I guess would be considered a prepper. My main concern is the economic collapse in America that is inevitable. I am not here to talk politics or the economy. But I would like to see if anyone else has been planning to grow weed and keep a "family" going after this collapse.

When it happens there may not be a way to get seeds online anymore because most likely the grid would be down. There would also be no other tools/nutrients that would be available to you after a collapse because the stores will be emtpy.

But anyways this is what I have now as a short term plan:

8 oz. Of dynagrow foliage pro
    8 oz. Of dynagrow bloom
Bottle of captain jacks deadbug spinosad
    Bottle if neem concentrate
3 unopened bags if potting soil
About 6 5 gallon buckets full of a perfect mix of soil/perlite/peat moss (I have this because all of my seedlings in them died)

I have an inventory of feminised seeds and regular that I will go into detail about later.

So I know after this is all gone, which won't take that long, I will have to go with what mother nature gave me.

For instance I would make a habanero pepper concentrate and then dilute it as a substitute for spinosad. Does anyone who has lived off the grid thought about or actually done this stuff?

Go ahead and make fun but I will only be responding to jokes if they are funny

  2. My home is hooked up to an extremely large propane tank that powers a generator. The generator kicks in as soon as there is a loss of grid power. In the event of an economic collapse I would convert both my basements into mass grow rooms. We currently grow majority of edible vegetables on our own, we do have the land and materials to be self sufficient food wise. I would trade weed to whoever had the most propane. Of course I would set up a small separate grow to create seeds for use and sale. When I have the money I will be investing in a small freezer and I will stock that thing with tons of seeds.

  3. Good idea with the barter angle. That's exactly what I've been planning. It would be gold in a collapse situation.

  4. Does anybody have an idea on how to preserve soil for the next year?

Like I said I have 6 buckets full of a prepared mix because my auto seedlings in them died because I suck. I would hate for that to go to waste.

I also have 3 unopened bags of soil.

My fam has a cabin on 150 acres but I will probly keep all of my plants close along with the garden for security purposes

  5. Check out pedal-a-watt generator, could be useful for quietly keeping lights on.. Collapse in motion...

  6. all ima do is have a massive garden using all the info ive learned from here i can litterally save my life by being able to grow food, but more important u gotta be able to find eible weeds in your area and be able to hunt... thats the easiest food source...

and you can eat weed plants which i would end up doing...

i would get a piece of land way up in the white mountains with a bunch of homies and wed plant a shit load all over the mountains... fuck hiding it whats the point?

i would plant soooooooooooo much of that shit it that wouldnt be worth much to me lol

  7. yo i like the idea my man but in a collapse, relying on things like propane and refigerators and indoor growing is a horrible idea... everyone would run out soo fast

and electricity would stop working pretty quick too i would think, or at least id prepare for it....

electricity isnt reliable at all because you need a lot of work to get the materials to generate the power and shit...

we just have to live more like they did back in the day, william whipple the nigga that signed the declaration of independance and shit, i went to his house thats a museum (i live in a preserved historic town) and they have the dopest self sustainability back in the day... they had wells and shit inside the basement and dope ass mechanical cooking spits and shit its soooooooo dope.. they lived pretty self sustainably in that house

in the back yard he designed a whole self sufficient garden thats been running itself for hundreds of years it soo fuckin cool!

anyway yeah if you arnt 150% self sustainable then i say youre a goner

I honestly didnt think anyone would even bat an eye at the idea of growing indoors is a collapse went down... free, fatter nugs, bigger plants, better for the environment!

  8. I would get powder nutes like maxibloom and throw desiccant packs in them...that would last longer than liquid just look up the kiss maxibloom tek

  9. Electricity and propane wont be as hard to get as you believe. You don't have to be completely sustainable, at least not for a long time. It would be a while before major resources start to run thin so I would grow as much as I could in that time and switch to natural when I had to. Also, indoor pot tends to be of higher quality so I could trade that for much more propane to grow even more high quality pot. If things become anarchy then I just have to steal the propane from wherever I can. I would only use power for lights, grow room, AC, and freezers. Wouldn't you much rather keep everything locked away from prying eyes anyway? When there is no main governing force people will take what they want, not all will be so barbaric but most. Especially if you're in the south.

  10. Even if Americas economy collapsed, many things would just continue as usual. The national guard would be mobilized and police militarization would be the best way for the feds to keep a lid on things till order is restored. But of course there are many other factions that would make a grab for power or just keep feds from regaining it. America could become something different entirely, for better or for worse. Imagine living in a giant war zone, that would be unpleasant. And pot has very little value if no one can find or produce food. If USD becomes an invalid currency then people would begin to barter, and depending on where you are people may need other things before magical mind altering flowers.

  11. I see your points and they make sense yes.... but it is actually a nostradamus prediction that the american economy will collapse and there will be a second revolution, a war between the people and the goverment... so my bet is that it will collapse and if it does I dont think that many people will be going back to their daily lives...

People would start to stock up on shit... supplies would be gone quickly and in the hands of other people which might be hard to get considering the situation we might be in....

TBH i think that outdoor vs. indoor quality is 100% strain/evrionment/grower dependent

I just grew some plants inside in the winter and got a decent yeild of some killer smoke., i just harvested the same strain that i grew on an outdoor run and i got to say that it has some bugs here and there but holy shit is it way better...

its a lot stronger and it smells way sweeter... weed plants cant develop certain terpines and shit under Indoor lighting and can only be produced with the sun....

and as for locking it up id steal me a greenhouse

  12. My direct family has 150 plus acres in God's country. It is a place that a lot of people know of too so I would have to have a lot of guys in various deer stands to keep an eye for hoodlums.

  13. I don't live in the city so a lot of people around me are somewhat self sufficient and wouldn't have to use all of their effort for getting food, so getting high will be on their to do list lol

  14. Does anyone have an answer for my soil preservation question?

  15. I feel a situation will arise to where our grid will be knocked out and the mail will be no more

Stuff like the TPP, NDAA, PATRIOT ACT have provisions in them that have us common folk pretty screwed if a total collapse/grid down/environmental disaster does come.. This thread is HOT right now lol... 😅

  17. I'm currently working out of a closet in giant house full of roommates, just below the Mason Dixon line (originally from Minnesota, I hate the south) and with the help of my roommates some of which have growing experience we could keep the place locked down and taken care of. The owner has an acre of unused land behind the tree line of the back yard. Some people would see an outdoor or greenhouse grow but we could have a barbed wood fence up within a week. There are a lot of people in this city (a lot of bigots and bible thumpers) so I think at some point we'd have to defend ourselves from someone. I'm a pacifist at heart but if push came to shove, the gun store on main street sells assault rifles ready equipped with scopes, lasers, and flashlights. These damned idiots and there guns. In a perfect world, people could function normally without big brother holding there hand every step of the way.
