On the political spectrum, where do you stand?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by USMC4/20, Aug 8, 2015.

  1. That does not mean you have to be a socialist. The right sucks but the policies of the left are the reason for poverty and continue to make the poor even more poor. They have no interest in helping the poor. If they did they would all be out of a job. Make no mistake, there is no benevolence in any government. Only ulterior motives at our expense.

  2. Tbh im just going with our own socialist party.
I say socialist but the labour party are more centre right these days.

We do kinda look after the poor and people who are struggling in the UK.
Like the NHS and our benefit system (although it is abused)

We currently have a right wing goverment and they are hitting down hard on the poor.
    Food banks springing up everywhere.

Im actually ashamed that kids are going hungry in my country.even if the politicians have no shame.
They are also starting to privatise bits of the NHS.

  3. Communism is the ultimate in socialism -- kind of where it logically ends. In theory nobody owns anything, including their own toothbrush.

So back to how people get treated: Communists murdered something like 200 million people (dissidents mostly) in the 20th century alone, NOT counting wars.

This is better than "right-wing" governments?

IMO, the ideology of the government is irrelevant. The amount of power it has is much more important; if it has a lot of power, sooner or later it WILL abuse its citizens.

Sir, there have existed, in every age and every country, two distinct orders of men-the lovers of freedom, and the devoted advocates of power. -- Senator Robert Hayne, South Carolina, January 21, 1830.

  4. Im not a communist lol
There lies the problem as i see it.

If you show any signs of compassion or helping out the misfortunate you must be a commi lol

I have lived under capatilist values since day one. Its not perfect but im happy with my country and life.

Just wish we would share a bit more of the pot with everyone else.
Prolly wont ever happen, but i like the feeling of not being totally devoid of compassion when i see someone who needs a hand out.

  5. pharmaceutical lobby for one..

  6. I'm gonna vote for Bernie Sanders. I am a registered democrat, but i'll vote for whoever the F I fell like voting for.

    Anyone who has a problem with socialism has a bizarre world view, or maybe better said, no view of the world at all. As the old addage goes;

He knows nothing of England, he who only England knows

To hammer the point home, check out some data on socialist Norway: http://forum.grasscity.com/politics/1378410-hillar...

[Edited for brevity, and to avoid drama]

  8. capitalist values don't mean you can't share

    Its about forced sharing.

If you set the precident that it is morally acceptable to take involuntarily from a person who has a lot, to give to a person who has a little, you've concented to the slippery slope to always leads to pure communism over time.

I believe in helping people. I do so on a regular basis. But I don't believe in stealing other peoples money to do it.

  9. I stand with the downtrodden and oppressed.

  10. Who's stealing what from who?

Is it right that a small percentage owns all the wealth.

Im fucking glad we have the NHS and a safety net if you fall on hard times. Cause if we didnt those greedy vultures would bleed us dry.

Certain things should be a given right to the people.
Free health care being the number1
Not making a profit from locking up its citizens.

Nah mate if anyones getting forced its the average guy on the street.
They can't even pay a livable wage to some people.

But they can hike up utility prices every year. Normally just before winter lol

The prison system alone should be evidence enough that privatizing civic services does not work well

NHS is a blueprint for the planet to follow

Edit: Thread related, since we're talking about the spectrum, my general approach is to look at the planet and see what does best, and why, and then appropriate that shit into your own culture

In all other systems, from business to microbiology, that which learns most and adapts best is the most successful

I believe in a Finnish education policy*, a Portugese hard narcotics policy, a Danish immigration policy, a Bergens-Florø integration policy, a Washingtonian cannabis policy, an Australian firearms policy - - -

Getting wrapped up in ideologies and sticking to them in spite of evidence is not the way the future will be built

*rough comparison, it takes the same to be a school teacher in Finland as it does to be a doctor in England. Finland is gangster as fuck when it comes to education, so gangster, the country in the world that best embraces the maxim the children are the future

  12. Yup only two kind of people exist in the political spectrum. You've really got this whole thing figured out.

  13. I never said nor implied that.

The best description of me would be Classical Liberal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_liberalism

Democrats are not liberals, republicans are not conservatives. They are both authoritarian neoconservatives, and voting for either party will get you the same results as the past 70 years.

All the unnecessary wars, the expansion of the empire, the drug war, the elimination of civil liberties, the militarization of the police, the surveillance state, the corruption and corporatization of government, the increased taxation, the devaluation of the currency, all brought to you by republicans and democrats. Most of these issues are created by Ds & Rs who will then promise to fix them, if you only give them one more vote.

So please, for the love of god, stop voting for these people! Please! I'm trying to live my life over here. How much worse does it have to get before you stop. Please?

  15. Classical liberal is the only type of liberal I will ever classify myself as.

  16. A glutton for punishment, ey :)

  17. I'm way off the spectrum. At the core I am a socialist but it is my own branch of socialism that doesn't even exist outside of theory. Overall I feel that it is the appropriate time for a drastic approach by literally taking money from the rich and putting it into systems that will help the poor live better lives. Not everybody is poor from a lack of work, most people are poor because the economy is fucked and totally favors some while excluding others. My family has owned a dental lab business for over 30 years yet despite all of our hard work we can hardly keep food on the table; eating healthy foods is a luxury we can't afford! And that leads me to healthcare, I guess we don't deserve it since we can't afford it. I mean, both my parents need it yet even a single visit to a doctor means at least a month of eating ramen noodles. Fuck the rich, if they won't pay into the system then the system should tear them a new one.

  18. Liberal Democrat, but I can't stand listening to politicians,
so I'm not very political at all. I vote, that's about it.

  19. 19th Century Nihilist.

    A perfectly irrelevant choice.
