Worried for my Little Plant.

  1. Hi guys. I'm a newbie grower in every sense of the word. Was packing a bowl about a 2 weeks ago when I came across two seeds. Both grew taproots. Unfortunately the one didn't make it as the root became severed from the seed. The other is doing surprisingly well, however I don't know for how long. I plan to keep it indoors. It seems rather skinny and spindly. Most unfortunate I cannot afford pricey grow lights, grow tents etc. For now it's in a basic small, plastic planter with moistened soil and out on the windowsill during sunlight hours. This' the most recent picture. Does it look sickly at all? I'm concerned because the serated leaves are still way smaller than the rounded ones.

  2. looks normal but its stretching because it needs more light

  3. Hey, thank you TinTizzy :) hoping this baby is a female. Have no idea of when I'll be able to find that out. Probably not until another month or so.

  4. yea they start showing around a ft or so...biggest thing people fail at in this stage is they over water so really watch how much often you water...until roots are established they can go days without more water so wait till its real dry...any twisting, wrinkled, or yellow leaves = over watering...good luck

  5. also cfl on a timer will be better than a windowsil...there are lots of cfl grows on here and micro grows so go check those out

  6. Thank you for all your advice. Not sure if I can afford a cfl. Most difficult in my position is I live in an apt. complex. So if I'm successful and get it to grow that tall (a foot) I'd definitely be having to move it. Right now I've taken to misting it with a water bottle as I feel it's more effective. The leaf curling under. Is that a bad sign? also, should I have it on a light schedule? or is it too young at this stage?

  7. some of the micro grows on here keep them real short in a computer case with lst so you could try that...it looks good but you dont need to mist it just water it good each time then wait till its dry again...24/7 works as a light schedule or 18/6 so you might not get enough light from outside

  8. Oh okay. I might be able to get a cfl Friday. My big issue is I don't want anyone suspicious if there's a mysterious spike in my electricity. That's usually the tip-off.

  9. nah you would have to use like 300+ actual watts and even that is barely noticeable...it's recommended to use 100 actual watts cfl per plant

  10. check out my grow its in a closet with cfls and is my first time as well.

  11. Nice setup, dude :)

  12. thanks brother I'll follow along with yours if you keep it going, cfls with plugs or socket extentions are cheap and easy.. like you saw I'm running 17 cfls at 27,600 lumens in a pretty small closet with 2 fans and no exhaust at 77-82 degrees :)

  13. Sounds good :) I'm actually a dudette, but whatever lol. How many bulbs would you suggest? it's only one little plant. So maybe 2? I don't want to overpower it. I was also thinking of getting a small desk fan to keep air circulating so it can build up a resistance and toughen up.
