  4. I'm going for an outdoor grow now but indoor eventually when it's gets colder here in TN. I could use a little help with some instructions and supplies for outdoor and indoor from first hand experience. I have 5 hash plants, 3 of which have just begun. 3 autos which don't seem to want to germinate so I figured it's the seeds and not my doing. Let us know what kind of soil you're working with. If you're growing organic outdoors then all you need is water as far as supplies go. Indoor generally varies from grower to grower. Do some research on what kind of lighting you want (LED, HPS/MH, T5, etc.), plan out your grow space, and buy your lights accordingly. Here's a good place to start.

Give Grow Room Design a visit and you can get some ideas for the rest of your set up (ventilation, enclosure and all that jazz)

  9. If you're growing outdoors in Tennessee, you may want to bring plants indoors sooner than later. At least remember that as August starts to progress, days shorten and your little seedlings will want to naturally start to flower. I've had strains showing good flowering by the 2nd week of August which is almost upon us, and have a strain which is mature outdoors by the 2nd weekend in September.

    Something to keep in mind...

As jerry says sooner then later.. This seedling was planted the 1st week of July in So Cal at Latitude 33 and it's shown and got the axe yesterday.. Your already past the point of flowering so they'll need some additional hours of light to stay in veg.. It doesn't take much as a porch light that shines on them.. A solar dusk till dawn will work for another month or 2.. Even a CFL on a pole will get the job done.. How much you can get this late depends on if and when you get a frost..

    Thanks for the info jerry!

All I going pretty well right now. I've never experienced anything with indoor but id be willing to try it considering time is running short. I presume you are from TN. If so that's cool, and I would love to learn more from some one more experienced than I. How would I even go about switching mine to indoors because I have no idea how. Thanks! P.S. The strain I have right now is a hash plant indica and an auto flower blue dream sativa.

Took a quick look. If I was you, I would make up some CC soil, grab your kelp/neem meal/crustacean meal and rock dust from buildasoil.com and grab your airation/compost-wormcastings/peat from the local hydro store. If the store has the amendments you need grab em instead of going online. local always when possible with soil building IMO. Look in the stickies at the top for soil mixes. I've enjoyed the rewards of making my own soil, and so have many others.

The hydro website says they have rice hulls, thats fairly rare in my parts. I get em from ag/feed store. They have Bu's biodynamic compost, thats good. I'm not sure about their worm castings(vermicompost) I've used Vermicrop organics castings, they were meh at best. I still have some, currently moving on to making my own castings (have two static bins going), and I have heard less than great things about wiggle worm.

  18. I'd mulch, and Cal/mag? how you fix that?

That stuff should already be in your soil

While I have no doubt that Bu's blend is good compost my wife would chop ME very fine and spread my remains in my own garden if I bought a truckload of that at that price.. I grow on a slightly larger scale and while it's still backyard and small scale buying much of that would break the bank.. Home depot has an acceptable compost for under 5 bucks a bag.. Try both and decide..

Your local HD should carry perlite in 2 cf bags as well
    • Alfalfa pellets can be a great soil amendment as well.. Almost as good as kelp and far cheaper and usually local with no shipping..
    • 15 dollars gets you a 5 lb box at the hydro store
    • $ 15 gets you a 15 pound sack of rabbit chow at the pet store
    • 15 bucks gets you 50 pounds of horse alfalfa pellets at the feed and tack store..
    • See where this is headed ??

  20. holy crap, 27 ish a bag is terrible. I didn't even look at cost, I'd run eco scraps at that cost too. I've used the eco scraps, is usable the trees it made were excellent
