Grow journal 2.5

  1. I just moved my bud from my first grow into a mason jar. I had to set it out on a screen to dry it just a little longer. I took a bit of a bud and ground it up, because you know, it's a learning process and I want to see the quality as it goes. At first, I was upset because I could feel a bit, but wasn't very potent. So I chalked it up to needing to cure. I went on with my laundry and about 10 minutes later I'm spaced out and I out loud I say"Holy shit. I grew a creeper" LOL I don't have many of the girly hobbies like nails, cooking, or gardening but I sure can grow some bud. I can't wait to see what curing does to it.

    That brings us to now.

I started a second grow journal after I harvested my first plant. It was a Delahaze seed I got for free in an order. Well the LED light was hotter than anticipated and it evaporated so much water from my DWC (small one) that it couldn't reach the medium in the cup and it dried out. Killing the seed and its root, I'm pretty sure of it. And that sucks. But we move on.

    New grow

Setup: 4 Gallon DWC (enough room for 6 plants but only growing one)

Lights: 1 -240 Watt 6 band LED panel (red, blue, infrared, ultraviolet, white)

    Nutrients- Fox Farm Tiger Bloom

Grow Cabinet: 2 1/2ft x 4ft painted white with reflective I have no fucking idea what they are called lol but they look like foil.

Accessories: Jewelers loupe 60x, digital calibrated ph meter, fan

  2. Day number 2

I just received my rapid rooters and took my seeds that I started in germination last night and placed them in the DWC. 2 seeds. PH read 6.57 so I left it. Right now I have a CFL on them (150 watt equivalent) set at 18/6. The LED is too hot right now and I plan on adding on to the grow cabinet this upcoming weekend, including better exhaust and ventilation.

  3. subbed In. What type of led do you have?

  4. So i was reading and ur brand recommends that the light be about 19 inches or more from the plants. further away when they young and fragile. maybe thats what happened with ur seedlings.

  5. No doubt. What do you think of the light itself?

  6. Seems pretty good for the price, 2 things id change. be the fans and id add more varied blue and red wavelengths. The fans are just ordinary cheap computer cooling fans, they could have added better fans. the true question is, is the light brighter than ur cfl setup? The ultraviolet spectrum is a great bonus point to ur light. not only will it kill bactiria and fungus on the surface of ur plants it will also hel with cell division. the infrared helps with the flower cycle, not sure how tho just from what ive read. Seems like a good light to me, should do the trick.

  7. EXTREMELY brighter. I need better exhaust. I'm going to fix that this week.

  8. so the light is too hot? Thought they were supposed to be less heat then anything else :/ guess I gotta look into one with better fans.

  9. To bad about the Delahaze I grew that one out real potent sativa with a spicy tropical taste. Loved that one for mowing the lawn.

    Subbed in good luck

  10. Yes but my grow area is pretty small and because I was using CFLS I didn't need ventilation either with one plant bc a fan did just fine. So I need actual ventilation installed for the LED. Which is happening this weekend :)

  11. That pisses me off. I have acres to mow and I was so excited to try it. I'm going to order more.

  12. how small is your space? I'm using my closet and I'm running 14 cfls at 77-83 degrees.. I would hope to god that an led would emit less heat then 14 100w equivalent cfls..

  13. It's 2 1/2x4ft it's running 80* with 52% Humidity. I know it's just because of ventilation. I'm sure of it. I have it open slightly and it's doing well.

  14. Day 3

PH Steady at 6.5. No water added. Turned on LED and I am leaving the door open just slightly and it's keeping nicely. Just until I start the construction of my grow area this weekend and adding new ventilation. Covered up my rapid rooters with clay balls. Not much more to report. Sorry for the mess. Temp 80* Humidity 52%

  15. Day 3.5

Just checked the seeds in the new rapid rooters. Holy crap they went apeshit overnight. They weren't even showing the root poking through yesterday and they are already almost half inch long!!

  16. sounds like they love that light

  17. I guess so. This is going to be interesting.
