United States presidential election 2016 This Bernie Sanders fella

  1. Yup. Our Medical system is ridiculously overpriced, and anti-venom is one of the most overpriced medications out there.

Unless you're rich, best pray nothing ever happens to you, because you're one medical bill away from your life falling apart.

  2. I saw a story on NBC News last night about a couple who has to choose between their house payments or cancer treatment because the husband has colorectal cancer. How fucked up is that? Guy is dying, wife said she is depressed and always worried about money ...is this the American dream? No, it's the American nightmare. In a country as powerful as ours, the people at the bottom or in the "middle" are taking the brunt of the hurt.

It's not right, and that's why I like Bernie: he understands the struggles of common folk. I don't see him and think he is in for special interests because his decades of service prove otherwise.

  3. One of my closer friends at university is a politics student who specializes in American politics and history, a fascinating guy to talk to, but of course he is still biased as everyone is

    When I paraphrase his statement:

"When it comes down to the core of the American political soul, all media lenses and propaganda aside, the only legitimate ideological battle is between someone like Bernie Sanders and someone like Ron Paul"

How does that resonate with the American blades? Does that feel right, or wrong, and why?

(he went on to contrast those two against Hilary Clinton and Jeb Bush, from political dynasty families, for context)

  4. It's not far off. Look at the Kock brothers supporting republicans, Hillary is trying to raise $2 billion in campaign funds ...people are buying elections in front of our eyes and nobody cares. Hillary was in Detroit a few days ago and held a $2,700-a-seat dinner (that featured soup) ...this is a city that was bankrupt last year and has major poverty issues, yet they are charging almost three grand a plate (or bowl).

There's only a chosen few who actually live out their ideologies without static.

  5. why is this?

  6. Why should people care when for the most part there are far more interesting pressing things in their lives and they are fairly well off. Saw a video from the seventies about 2 million people marching on Washington to protest Vietnam. Made me realize how little our civic duties are taken seriously in America nowadays.

  7. i don't think it can be successful with a trillion dollar defense budget and more trillions in foreign aid, as well as a population of 300 million.
The nordic countries have none of those things, which is why they can afford to provide all of those fancy social programs.

  8. "An idiot in Athenian democracy was someone who was characterized by self-centeredness and concerned almost exclusively with private-as opposed to public-affairs."1

Is there less of a political impact on social and economic life now than there was before? What elements have entered the equation since the Vietnam protests? Why is there a change in behaviour? I am very interested in the root cause of the disengagement of politics

  9. As opposed to the current system, which is working (well? not well? at all?)

Which is the ideal political template for America specifically, in your opinion?

  10. He's the only candidate for the people, not saturated with corruption. Which is why he'll never win. Bernie Sanders will be painted as a crack pot nut job, and covered like a speed bump in history bc the machine doesn't want him.

And due the rampant stupidity displayed by so many Democrats last round in failing to support RP when he was the only decent choice, I'm not going to lift a finger to help Sanders get elected.

  11. I think people are distracted. Technology is distracting to the masses, people have families and finances and try to keep their head above water. There is no time to revolt, or march, unless it's good on your time or you are desperate. The protesting state of the U.S. has been defunct for a while now, and most people simply feel disenfranchised, like their voices are not being heard. That is how Obama hooked the masses, especially young (ideological, yet inherently unrealistic) people who thought he was going to change the world. Instead, Obama was just another politician pretending to be something he was not, running on checks he couldn't cash.

People need a voice. They used to have that ...Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, JFK, MLK, Reagan -- whether you like them or not, they were important to the nation during their service. There's plenty more as well, but they are far outweighed by the corruption and the 'politics' of it all.

  12. Is this the wiser, reason-driven choice or the more passionate, emotion-driven choice? Do you agree with his politics, or like his character, or neither?

  13. I like Sanders and most of his ideas. Just don't give a shit about politics anymore though. It's a silly thing to invest your time or money on, or to care about.

This place is fucked, along with most of the inhabitants. No candidate or person is going to change that. America and it's political system figuratively need to burn to the ground before something better can be build up in it's stead. You can't polish a turd.

  14. It wasn't that people didn't support Ron Paul, they did. It's that he was cheated by the system.

    Did you ever see this?

    Shocking really.

  15. Do you think you are echoing a major American sentiment? Is this why there is low voter turnout?

  16. The system fucked RP, but so did millions upon millions of Democrats who couldn't pull their heads out of their collectivist asses for one second...

  17. Not sure. I hope so though.

All I can tell you with certainty is I don't give a fuck anymore. I don't care who wins or loses. Who the President is has no bearing on whether I sink or swim in life.

  18. Greece didn't get into trouble because of socialism, they got into trouble because they took out loans at high interest rates to pay for stuff they couldn't afford. Sound familiar? It should. It's called capitalism.

  19. Yeah, quite a few things, but the biggest is the pharmacy charge. I'm in the wrong business man. I should be slinging anti-venom and aloe based "medical" skim creams. Christ man, that's some serious hooker and blow money.

  20. except our debt is relatively low interest iinm
