    hey all,

i went backpacking for 10 days and had my brother take care of my plants. they grew a ton. However, little spottage here and there. Wondering if its underwatering? they seem a little wilted at the tips. they could have been a little too close to the light too (its only 1300 W CFL) so i moved it to a different location. top leaves seem a tad bit crispy so i dont think it's a nutrient deficiency? i haven't used any nute boostes yet, and i've been meaning to add another light.

also wondering when i should start flowering.. looks like its almost at 5 nodes. i'm really just growing these as an experiment so i'm not really looking to get multiple ounces.. so just wondering if i could start flowering next week and just get a few nuggets.

donno why the 2 pics are so small. i apologize for that

    thanks.

The hooked tips is a sign of nitrogen toxicity, what you doing for nutrients?
as for the brown tips possibly nute burn. so maybe ur brother thought he was helping and added too much fertilizer. You can send plants into flower just after seedling stage to be honest.

looks like ur almost out of growing space, plants tend to stretch when they flower u may have to gently bend your plants over slowly.

  4. since the damage is mostly at the tops it seems to be heat/light stress, check the temperatures at the canopy of the plants wherever you move the light to where its optimal.

if you are just experimenting why not let them go a bit longer in veg, at least until you figure out whats causing the damage?? they look to be an indica variety so they shouldnt beef up so so much as sativas do when they begin flower.

the same problems will occur with your next grow so go ahead and let them veg, figure out whats causing the damage, and make preparations for your next, more serious grow.

  5. i guess i could let them grow out a little more. its Blueberry Haze. i've got another fan i could stick in there. my brother doesn't have the greenest thumb and i think he wasn't watering consistently. so maybe it could have been heat and under watering.

as to others saying its nitro toxicity, i have only been using water this entire time, so i knew it couldn't have been that issue!
i'll figure out another spot to grow them.. but just out of curiousity, how much do y'all think i could yield if i had started flowering next week?

  6. Alright dude, ain't gonna be light stress with CFL's lol you can have tops like 5cm away with them, it's nutrient burn. Whatever your feeding them, don't. Just water them with correct ph water for the next few waterings then carry on using fertiliser but just mix it at half strength, see how they handle that! As far as flowering...... If you're keeping them in that setup I would start as soon as you have given them a couple ph'd waterings then do a light feed and switch the light cycle! Hope this helps!
Ooooo also where have you been backpacking too? Fun?
Sorry just seen your previous response... Have you checked ph?

  7. Could be nutrient lockout from acidity/alkalinity

i haven't been using anything except water!!!!!!!!!!! my brother wouldn't have used anything because he wouldn't spend his money on nutes for my plants lol! but i should probably test the pH in the soil and see if that's the culprit because i know how important that is. I've been using fox farm which has worked like a charm since they were babies so it can't be the soil's nutes shocking them. drainage is good too, i checked!

i backpacked in new mexico, utah, colorado and arizona! much fun. tired as shit with the worst shorts tan, but fun as hell haha.

  9. your soil have time released fertilizer? Nutes coming from somewhere or ur plant wouldnt grow. light burn usually accompanied with yellowing of the leaves, ur still green it looks. A test of the water u using for ph would be good idea too.

  10. 1300 watt is going to get hot regaurdless of the type, may be cooler than HID, but still heat problems can occur.

  11. Fox farm Ocean forest?

  12. Yes, i've been using fox farm ocean forest. They've been in it for 2 weeks, so i feel the soil would have shocked them when they were younger and more vulnerable. i'll def get a pH test tomorrow and see if that's the case. if all is good, then it must be heat stress and inconsistent watering.

but like i asked before, i'm curious how many grams i could get out of these plants if i would start flowering next week? i don't want TOO much weed!!! said nobody ever ;-)

if flowered as is you only get one big cola will end up looking like a christmas tree. should top or fim it b4 flowing wil increase yield. Havrest is hard to give an exact number but id say 1/2oz to an oz each is possible. given couple more weeks time of training u could double triple or add even more than that to ur yeild the plant in the photo took me 5 weeks to train and 10+ bud sites

  15. Of course but he has ventilation, just saying....it's not like it's 1300w of HID lighting, there is a huuuuuuuuuuge difference!

I'm an outdoor enthusiast anyway! I combat heat with white painted pots and cardboard barriers lol!

  16. i See one bulb in his pic, do they make 1300w cfl bulbs? is some missing information here i believe. even if 5 bulbs are out of sight i doubt he has 1300 watts of cfl. cause that bulb pictured is tiny look at the thumbtack holding it up.

i did not notice that.. or even think they make 1300w cfl idk im with StonedInSpain outdoors man mostly.

  18. sorry yall, my dumb stoned ass meant to say LUMENS instead of Watts. i've got 1300 lumens. i'm throwing another one in there soon. ventilation should be fine. I've got 2 fans on them constantly in a cool room anyway.

pH is good. got that all checked. i really think it could have been the heat while i was gone. the plant was almost touching the light when my brother was taking care of them, so i moved them. he probably forgot to water them from time to time as well.

i bought some fertilizer this morning too. i'll probably start flowering soon (next week or two) since i dont want the plants to be so tall, i dont have much room! i picked up some 6-12-6. think that will work well, yeah?

  19. thats a good bloom formula does it mention micro nutrients? is it a liquid fert? isnt recommended to start with full strength, do half or a quarter of what the package recommends. yeah get as much light in there as possible, keeping in mind space.

  20. yep! organic and micro nutes included. thanks for all the advice!
