If you were offered immortality...

Discussion in 'Philosophy' started by J_IntheMix, Jul 17, 2015.

  1. Would you accept or decline?

    Why?

  2. Decline.

I'd probably be bored as hell after 2000 years.
Life would get very monotonous after a while.

  3. It would entirely depend on the aging process. If you could stay healthy and (for the most part) pain free, then yes. :smoke:

  6. I need about 80 years to think about it.

  7. Are we invincible too?

I would love to live forever but, I don't want to end up floating around space forever, or living eternity on a lifeless rock.

  8. Great answer.

  9. Isn't offering immortality what Christianity has or shoula been doing for the last 2000 years? We can debate whether the offer is reality or fantasy but regardless, the offer of immortality is there and is central to the religion.

I only say that cause I'm stones as fuck.

    But still... [IMG]

  12. That's a tough one cause think about it what if the earth as we know it got destroyed and you were the only living being. You would be all alone and bored. But if things were to stay the way that I like it and my wife was with me than I would probably accept it. But it would also suck to watch your loved ones die while you lived on.

  13. Assuming the universe itself is immortal, eventually youll find life again, or get stuck in a black Hoke for eternity

  15. if reality only exists as a perception, this would cause a big bang

  16. Christians believe their souls are immortal. But they are confined to this earth until they die because a woman ate a fruit off of a tree when she was told not to. A Christian must spend the rest of their life convincing god that they are worthy of "His" kingdom. Otherwise you are damned to hell and your soul must suffer for eternity.

    Fucking insanity.

  17. actually that is incorrect

It is impossible for anyone to get into to heaven no matter how worthy.

However all sinners are allowed forgiveness if they desire

Nope. You're definitely wrong. After death or come rapture everyone must be judged before god in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.

I grew up with this bullshit dude, you can't tell me I'm wrong.

  20. I wish everyone else was immortal except for me. then I'd get a lot of sympathy and wouldn't have to worry about my loved ones
