Was watching Cosmos really high last night and suddenly understood field theories MUCH much better. Amazing

I've always had a love for cosmoslogy and considered pursuing it as a field of study. I didn't for various life reasosn that I won't go into but I probably had the aptidude as I always excelled in math and sciences in school and even college up to what I ended up taking. None of that is to brag simply just to say that I love the subject, even in the details at the math level. Now granted I never got to the point where I was doing the math of general relativity, quantum mechanics and other field theories but I've always kept up with it in terms of popular sciences as much as I could. I've always understood or thought I understood general relativity and other field theories like electromagnetism relatively well. I knew the wavelike nature of space time and the dual electromagnetic wave like nature of light, electromagnetism etc. I knew that gravity traveled as waves and that objects with mass distort the spacetime around them which is what causes objects or orbit each other etc. But until I watch cosmos last night I'd never been able to picture what it must really be like. I had a real vision watching that of earth warping space time and matter rippling and flowing through this warped space time the way your image is distored by a warped fun house mirror. Only this isn't a reflection but the very matter that is following the contours of the warpped space time. And it became so clear to me that these warps and waves were no different than any other typ of wave, measurable like any other type of wave by its impact on the mater forced to bend and flow through it. :)

Again it's not like I didn't understand this at all before. But I'd never been able to see it, visualise it so clearly in my minds eye before!
