I'm planning a stealth dresser box and would like to use LED for multiple reasons most of all for the low heat and power usage. I have been pulling my hair out trying to find the best option. Its likely going to be 4 ft tall and the other dimensions are flexible at this point. likely 36" wide by 24" deep. I have heard that advertised coverage area is bogus 99% of the time so Im asking the pros....... Don't want to break the bank but not looking for cheap quality. <$500 is ideal.. Must be designed for veg and bloom (prefer a switch) I was looking at advanced diamond series but im not sure what i need to be looking for in a LED IM A NEWB.... please speak your mind!
my box is 24 x 24 x 48 I start with 4 - 23W cfls and add more as needed finishing with 12- 23W cfls no issues with heat cost less than $60 for all the bulbs/sockets and wiring as far as a switch between veg and bloom- start with 4 - 6500k bulbs and finish with a mix of 6500k and 2700k
You need a little height to use LED lighting properly, assuming the use of a panel with good penetration and intensity. Don't fall for the cheaper panels you see on places like Ebay and Amazon. The spectrum is poor, and they don't draw enough power to be effective. At 4ft you're going to need to use some good training to prevent the plant from growing too close to the light. I'm currently using a PlatinumLED P300 that fits what you're looking for in terms of budget, Veg/Bloom switches, and quality. My comparison grow was just started recently, but there are a lot of guys out there already using the PlatinumLED panels with real nice results, and you can check out how their grows are doing.
