How many are losing posts after they click post?

Discussion in 'Forum Tech Questions, Problems and Troubleshooting' started by xtrchessreal, Jul 16, 2015.

  1. Grasscity forum needs to get their servers upgraded, I am tired of losing my posts....Fuck What I gotta do back up every post before I post it - thats fucking little league bullshit. If this decides to post I am copying it and putting on the admins here - fuck this shit.

  2. Are you using the app or a pc? If anyone else is experiencing this, please give the details of the browser and operating system so our tech team can get it fixed.

  3. This is absoluteley ridiculous 1:24 am! MST UTC -7
I am in the middle of typing this post to provide you details of the issue and the server drops me again. I didn't even press the post button, I was dropped.

I am now using a text editor to type out the issue for you. Does this idea strike you as preffered behavior? How long do you think it will be before you lose subscribers?

Here are the details you requested.
    Sony Vaio VGNFW250J
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz x 2
    4 Gig RAM
    Linux Ubuntu 15.04 OS
    8 Gig Swap
    Chromium Version 43.0.2357.130 Ubuntu 15.04 (64-bit)
    pepper-flash version 18.0.0.209~cr43.0.2357.134-1-0skunk0
    with: . /usr/lib/pepflashplugin-installer/pepflashplayer.sh
at the bottom of file: /etc/chromium-browser/default

    Issue Description:
After creating post on GrassCity forum editor and clicking Post Button to post the information, a three dot graphic displays indicating the post is in process to the user. The graphic displays for so long the server drops the port. On Chromium the "Aw Snap" page is displayed indicating the website is no longer available. The information in the post is lost. An extremely frustrating thing to have happen after spending 10 min, 20 min, or longer gathering info...similar to what I am doing right now on your behest, to help you figure out what is wrong with your site.

I know many users with account on this forum having this problem on many different platforms. As a former telecom engineer I would guess bandwidth issues during high traffic times indicating a bottleneck at the server - not enough ports - or not enough bandwidth by the Site Host provider dropping the site. However since your site dropped me at 1:24 am this morning that wouldn't make sense. The server timeout is dropping ports maybe? Too many resources taking too much memory?

This is the only issue I have amongst every other site I visit. No other sites do this to me. Flash works properly everywhere.

  4. well chunk, it happens to me on my iphone and on my PC at home. what I've noticed is the longer it takes me to type it out despite the length of what I'm typing, then when I press send, it acts like it's trying to post it but just keeps "post saving". wish I had more fancy tech speak for ya. I'm sure it will get straightened out.

  5. It's an epidemic I've heard.

  6. Damn you are for real etrchessreal

Yeah chuck I'm mainly an app user but it happens on both here.

  7. It seems to have gotten better for me the last few days but also i haven't been posting as much so not sure though i know what you mean i literally had to start copying every important post before i clicked post. shit get's me furious

  8. Not losing anything, but it's taking ages to post sometimes.

The last few posts I've made have taken about 5 mins from when I've clicked post to the actual post to appearing on the thread.

Please check this linkhttps://support247we...ows-traceroute/ and try to do 2 tracert tests

  10. This has been officially reported to the tech team.

If anyone else is experiencing the same issue, please let us know with as much info as possible.
Thanks...and sorry for the inconvenience and frustration.

  11. Haha, tht's what I do. Copy before gambling with the post button. I find it tht the sooner you click post after you start typing the bigger the chance is of it going through

  12. If you are doing a journal and you have multiple pictures with info about multiple plants, updates, etc. getting dropped before you get to copy your post is not an answer. Commenting each photo, how do you do that, add the photo, in some other editor, copy and then insert the whole thing? When being dropped on this site how do you build a post? I'm asking. What editor should I use that will embed the photos? Then allow me to cut and paste entirely with links in tact etc?

  13. Add me to the dropped post list. It doesn't happen every time but it does frequently happen. I get the saving post notice for a couple of minutes then it simply disappears.

Also the editor is still fucked...most of the time it won't highlight properly to copy or delete, sometimes it highlights some words or letters, some times it highlights as much as a couple of sentences but it rarely works.

    IE 10, Windows 7

always lose posts and PMs. and a new one today, just happened to me twice in the last 10 minutes. You hit post, then that little green box shows up like its loading and processing the post to put it up. Then the box disappears (relatively quickly since I've waited 30sec-1 minute for the post to show up on the thread) looking like it posted.....but the post doesn't show up on the page. Decided to open a new window to check the same thread and see if it posted. Didn't, lost post. Refreshed the page to see if it posted. Didn't, lost post.

Its really frustrating when you post out a long, thought out post. Hard to replicate the exact same info....especially after being pissed off that you just typed a shitload and lost it all.

COPY and PASTED this since what I just described, happened in this thread.

  15. We are full focused on identifying the cause of this issue. It is a bit painful to identify however we are doing our best to resolve this asap.

For your information we found out that our mobile app was causing some unexpected errors which maybe related to this issue. We disabled the app for 24 hours for testing purposes. Please let me know if you still see delays or missed posts today.

had it happen a few times on my s4...just says posting forever (not today)

  17. I applied some changes this morning , tonight we will add some additional debugging to the editor to identifier if html purifier is taking longer then expected or not.

If possible can you please try to answer the following questions which may help us get closer to actual issue causer :

    1. Does the delay occur you on small threads or on Large threads
    2. Does the delay occur when you use too many bbcodes or does it occur randomly
    3. Does the delay occur on every browser or on any specific browser
    4. Does the delay occur on a specific forum section or any different section
    5. Can you please try to link me couple threads that you face delays on posting.

  18. I have been experiencing this issue

    Here is my data:

    1. Both
    2. bbcode unrelated
    3. I only use chrome, this data is only useful for chrome
    4. No
    5. PYT, Smaller threads in politics section, private messages

OBS: The recurring theme in my case is LONG posts, or posts that take me a long time to formulate. This seems to be a recurring pattern for at least one other blade (00Bubs00, who I have seen made the same complaint)
Is there some part of the code that does something during a long idle period?

    Good luck with the bugfixing
