My trichomes wont turn amber

Discussion in 'Harvesting and Processing Marijuana' started by PatrickXy6dC, Jul 15, 2015.

  1. I'm growing EndlessSky from Dr Greenthumb. It's supposed to finish flowering at a bit over 60 days. I'm entering my fourth month and still no amber trichomes. The buds aren't filling our any more though a few new pistils are coming in on a couple of buds. Both my hydro units have broken down. They are still getting water from a reservoir, but the mechanism that waters from the top has come dislodged on both units. No way to fix them as they are. The plants are still nice and green except for some browning of some of the leaves on the buds. Should I just be patient? They are so long over due I'm worried. The trichomes are all cloudy- checked with a loupe and USB microscope, but not a single amber trichome. I had to harvest the first plant early- only cloudy trics as the top feeder broke and I didn't have the res hooked up yet (that proved to be a problem setting up) so I'm hoping to get these two thoroughly mature.
    Any advice? Thanks in advance
Oh, I have checked for light leaks and the room is pitch dark at night. I'm on 12/12 using GH flora duo nutes.
Also, I am using Eco Growers from General Hydroponics and have had trouble separating the insert from the bucket of solution and the top feeding parts have consistently come apart and stop working. I won't use them again.
    Sorry, can't post photos.

Let me see if I can upload a couple of shots. I have to cut a piece of bud and bring it to the microscope and computer. These are two representative shots. Thanks.
View attachment 1826205 Could only get one uploaded, will try again. These are just snips of the sides of two buds.

  6. Thanks, will try to get pics of plants tomorrow. They are pitiful due to problems in the grow room

  7. Finally, hopefully, some photos. I'm not good at this.

Sorry, know those pics no help. Will try later.

  10. Thanks, snackstick. Nothing has changed in awhile. I guess they've cured already if the plants dead. Lol. At least the trichomes got cloudy anyway. I'll go ahead and harvest in the morning and see if I can salvage anything. The plant is still green- it hasn't turned yellow even at the bottom so I thought it was ok, just very slow.

  11. Assuming this is a F & D set up, the low pressure pump you are using to flood can be connected directly to the drain (bulk head fitting). When not on, it lets the nutes drain back to the rez

I think I did a tutorial ~ one year ago in the hydro section

  12. Thanks, Peflora. I've got three individual recirculating units connected to a reservoir.

  13. cut them down, fix your setup, and start over. This same thing (almost) happened to me 7 years ago on my 1st attempt at hydroponics, I fixed my setup to pump right and I never had another problem, never did figure it out, possible stagnant water or nutrient problems, idk, cloudy trichs show resin production at its peak, its degrading when amber, just harvest bro and start over, goodluck

  14. Thanks, mate. Chopped one this morning and will get the other one tomorrow. Then get the set up cleaned out, new gro rocks. Have plenty of nutes. After September I am going to have a full six months where I don't have to be gone for two weeks (one week at a time) and give the grow my full attention. This grow was really decimated when I added the reservoir to the units. One unit with my biggest plant failed, the insert had to be cut away from the bottom and placed in a new container. Space was tight and these two suffered a beating. This time I'm going to make sure every thing is straight before I start.
