Never got probation letter in Jersey. HELP PLEASE

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by yungvodka, Jul 14, 2015.

  1. I had to go to court for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana on June 9th. I went and was told by my prosecutor that I had to take a conditional discharge for a year or I would end up possibly losing my license. If I test clean and stay out of trouble for a year, it will be off my record in a years time. He said it was like supervised probation and that I would be tested a lot. So afterwards I was given this paper that told me to call this number IMMEDIATELY to set up an appointment with a probation officer. I called the next day, and the lady told me that although the paper says to call us, that they won't get my information for about 2-3 weeks and then afterwards is when I'll get my PO date in the mail.

It's now July 14th. I'm kind of paranoid. What should I expect? I was going to stop smoking before I got the letter to assure that I would be clean for my test as I am a heavy. heavy pot smoker but then I decided to wait until the letter came to stop. But it has yet to come and it's been a little over a month since my court date. Should I stop smoking now? Or do you think that when I get the letter, it'll be like a month or more away and I'll have time to get clean? I'm not sure if I should call them again or something, but I feel like I'm not going to get the letter and I don't want to get in trouble 'cause oft that.

  2. The legal system is notoriously slow with processing paperwork and the like, especially for a minor charge like possession of marijuana. You will likely get the letter around the end of the summer or shortly after and the scheduled date could be anywhere from a week after you receive the paper to a month or more. It's really a coin flip.

To stay on the safe side I'd cut the smoking until you're through with the whole thing. I smoked a few times on probation and had some seriously close calls -- I can tell you it's certainly not worth it.

    Good luck! [IMG]
