I believe gender reassignment is wrong.

  1. Why are so many people willing to accept it?

If you were meant to be the other sex, you would've been born the other sex. Period.

I have no problem with transgender people, do what you will. Gender is different from culture to culture, and its extremely black n white in the western world. Everyone needs a label for some reason.

The only reason people feel like they're trapped in "the wrong body" is because society forces us to identify with one gender from such an early age.

In many native cultures, it's actually considered a great honor to live as both man and woman. The Navajo call these people Two-Spirits. These people were highly regarded in the tribe. Look it up, its fascinating.

Anyway my point is that when someone chooses to go under the knife because they feel like they were supposed to be born the opposite sex, they're giving power to the society that forces us to be labeled as straight/bi/gay/trans/asexual. You should learn to accept the gift you were given as a "Two-Spirit" instead of buying your way to a vain sense of (short-lived) inner peace.

Shit i agree to an extent i got a little bit of woman in me but i appreciate having my dick. I mean i'm a virgin but i assume dicks wanna go into pussies because they are one and the same. I sort of chose my title of bisexuality because of society. it felt easier to just tell everyone im bisexual than have to explain any future gay or straight situation. though if someone is willing to cut off their dick and make it into a pussy than it's their body and i know where your coming from because society makes them feel like they gotta be one or the other. Just think maybe some men are really more comfortable in a woman's body and visa versa, i accept it because it just is. But yeah gender transformation seems normal until surgery comes into play on the genital sections. it's a cringe worthy experience so i could see why you think it's wrong but society is not forcing this on people. influencing is different but you can't expect society not to influence it's people that's what society is... i don't know many or any transgender person in real life though and to the ones I've encountered on GC i just gotta say do you and you know that by now even if you is a product of society i don't think it's wrong just a tough decision or easy for y'all not sure...

Maybe they don't want to be "Navajo two-spirit" (fun as that sounds) and just want the damn surgery already?

  5. This is the Philosophy section. Discuss. Don't be rude.

I'm not intolerant, I'm not going to treat somebody poorly just because they made a life choice that I don't agree with.

A guy I became friends with at work years ago went through this. He was a regular and after a few years we knew each other pretty well. I watched the whole process, and I discussed it with him all the time. He knew I didn't agree with it but we were still friends. He is now a she and I'm more than "tolerant" of that fact.

You don't have to agree with everybody to be a good person or friend to them.

Sorry Yuri I'm actually a fan of yours but you were being rude. The man never said he thinks trans gendered people are wrong but the process is wrong. It's a your not a bad person but you did a bad thing type of argument i believe is going on here. accept i dont think OP is blaming the transgendered but society for forcing or influencing them which i think is unrealistic, illogical and irrational because the indians didn't have the technology that we have today. Now the question stands; Why are you OP offended on a moral level about the reassignment of a persons gender? Does it confuse you too much that nurture can have such an ironic affect on nature? And what is the lesser of evils considering that gender reassignment is even wrong in any way; which i don't believe it is?

  7. Says who? lol. That's just your opinion.

I don't mind if people disagree with others life choices, but for the love of humanity don't push your beliefs on others as if it's fact or "the way it should be."

  8. We are able to accept it because we are a land of free people, we have free will (as much as the government will allow, but that's a different story ).

As a human, we have the right to choose to want to be something different, something more or less, whatever the choice.

  9. There's no surgery on earth that can change who you are the day you were born. Its just cosmetic surgery. No different then liposuction or butt implants.

  10. look the other way would be by "philosophical" advice

  11. What about if you're born without a gender?
My son was born without genitalia. Surgery created a "kind-of" phallus, and he's definitely a boy, but I wonder if someday he wont think it easier as a girl.

  12. I wish a thug would stab Caitlyn Jenner in the neck with an ice pick. Not because Bruce became Caitlyn, but because she is flaunting so much. Who gives a flying fuck what Caitlyn is wearing?

  13. the topic is about reassigning gender. Unless youre looking to change your son into a daughter my comment has nothing to do with your child's situation. Turning a man into a woman oo vice versa is just cosmetic. Until science finds a way to change DNA and chromosomes all any gender reassignment is, is cosmetic surgery. I could go get a set of double D's tommorow and get my boys snipped. Other then looking like a freak show with boobs and a 5 o'clock shadow it wouldn't change my gender.

  14. The reason that transgender people transition is to ameliorate gender dysphoria, and transitioning truly is the best medical treatment for that. Being transgender is rooted in biology and brain structure and really has nothing to do with society or social gender roles. You could eliminate all of societal gender roles and you'd still have trans people, because being trans is a medical condition. Personally, I'm a trans woman, and I don't really care much about society's traditional expectations for women, me being a lesbian working in a STEM field. I've been medically transitioning, and I'm really glad that I took the step to take control of my life. My depression that I've had since puberty has pretty much been eliminated, thanks to estrogen. You may not understand people like me, but the reason that we transition is for comfort in our own skin, and it's truly a beautiful thing.

  15. You know, if you look at this from a scientific perspective, you're wrong. For starters, DNA is just the blueprint, not the building itself. Speaking of which, transgender women taking hormone replacement therapy undergo the same biological pathways that cisgender women (same goes for those transitioning from female to male in relation to what cis men go through) do during puberty. And yes, it does make is pretty much biologically female. If you look at what modern science actually says about biological sex, the aggregate phenotype of cells is more important in terms of sex differentiation than having an SRY gene (this makes a penis) on a Y chromosome. There's been a fair amount of research on biological sex, and it really isn't as simple as the basic dichotomy that one's taught in elementary biology. There's a lot more to it than that. Because I've been taking hormone therapy for a while, my physiology and anatomy is female. My breasts are natural, and they exist because I'm taking hormone replacement therapy and because my genetics have the instructions on how to make breasts when estrogen is my main sex hormone. Speaking of sexual reassignment surgery (haven't had it yet, but really, really, really want it), surgeons are able to create functioning vaginas that when they heal up, gynecologists and lesbians can't tell the difference between a surgically made vagina and a naturally made one. It isn't cosmetic either. It's done to treat a medical condition known as gender dysphoria.

  16. OK when they figure out chromosome swapping I'll agree. Until then its just cosmetic along with hair coloring, tattoos, body modifications. Putting horn implants in your head doesn't make you the devil

  17. I want to add this I'm not talking about for physical medical reasons like the other guys son. Your example sounds more like a mental issue then a physical issue to me. All someone has to do is say they're confused and all of a sudden they have gender dysphoria. That's not a physical medical condition its a mental medical condition. Until those chromosomes and tge dna that you were born with can be switched all it ever will be is cosmetic.

  18. it's obviously not purely cosmetic because when people transition they take hormones, which definitely alters how their
body functions on a day to day basis.

and u comparing transitioning to piercings and tattoos is out of line. there is an obvious difference between someone wanting an earring and someone putting in tons of time, effort, and risk to finally feel comfortable in their own skin.

and that raises another question, why does someone wanting to feel comfortable with their body offend u? (or freak u out or whatever)

  19. I already explained why you are wrong about this and cited science to back it up. I'm not going to repeat myself.

  20. relax man no reason to get pissy. I see the science you showed explaining the mental situation. You already explained why you THINK I'm wrong. That's cool everyone's entitled to their opinion. Just like my opinion is since chromosomes are what separates a man from a woman other the the obvious physical aspects, you can't change a man into a woman without changing those chromosomes. Or vice versa. Making a penis into a working virgina does not change chromosomes. Or does it in your opinion?
