I've hAD enough disappointment with the seed vendors and decided to start growing my own. Any info you can share with me about how best to handle your plants during this period in order to grow healthy, viable and predominately female seeds. In particular, timelines, nutrients, watering frequency, etc. So I'm gonna post two sets of pics below. 1st set was taken just after harvesting the top half of the plant. About 3 or 4 weeks ago. Second set of pics are recent and demonstrate the plants hermin and fluffing up. I've never done this before but I'm hoping I'll have buds full of mature seeds in about another 3 or 4 weeks. Like I said, I'm new to harvesting seeds, so please share any knowledge you may have on the subject. strain: purple haze 1st 3 pics _a month ago final 4 pics_ yesterday
I just had some plants hermie and ended up with some seeds, just let the plant mature normally in flower, once done take seeds out when harvesting
Rodelization is a poor breeding technique that encourages plants that easily hermie, to pass on their genes and create hermie prone strains. Use colloidal silver.
I've read varying op[inions on colloidal silver. i HAVE A COUPLE ISSUES with that approach. For one, the remainder of the plant must be disposed of. I understand that you can't smoke a plant that was treated with colloidal silver. That is a lot of plant material to have to throw out. regarding the tendency to turn into a hermie. I understand that if you stress a plant into hermafrodite after a full flowering period and it had not show any hermafrodite tendencies up to that point, then any offspring created will share that characteristic of achieving a full flowering period without turning.
You don't have to use the silver on a full plant. I mainline my girls and spray down just 1 of the 8 or 16 mains. That one main will provide quite a bit of female pollen. Once I get what I need from that main, she meets the trash can. I still have 7 or 15 mains left.
