Digital copy vs disc

  1. Being a PC gamer in my teens and little of early adulthood. I love having disc just to egobate my self but the xbone digital copy and store being a little like steam ib been going digital copy more lately.

  2. Digital...it's better for the environment too

  3. That's great until you get to rural America where we have horribly slow connections, and most satellite providers also give you a limit each month where downloading a 10 gb game is impossible.

  4. I like digital for games I know I'll hold on to and play pretty frequently. For example, I have Halo MCC and BF4 digitally downloaded. Most games though are what I like to call "hit it and quit it games" so I know I'll never play them again once I'm done with them.

It's obvious why I like having games I play a lot digitally downloaded, because it's a pain late at night to go up to the console and switch out the disks so often. The ease of just hitting my dash button and clicking the game is great.

However, digital games are stupid expensive on consoles. They really don't go down in price from the $60 value unless there's a sale, so physical is usually the more cost effective route. Even in the case of the games I bought digital I didn't get them until they were on sale. I got BF4 with all DLC for $20 during that Christmas sale. And Halo MCC for $25 recently.

  5. I like digital for ease of use but I tend to go physical just for trade in value. I am still regretting getting Dragon Age I digital as I will prob never play it again and it has a really nice trade in value still.

  6. Disc way better for so many reasons

  7. Maybe if you play on consoles...on PC you can get game keys very cheap in numerous key stores. You can't resell most PC games anyways since they usually need to be activated with accounts (steam, origin etc.).

  8. I just get whatever is cheapest which is usually a used disc.

  9. Usually disk because I'm a horder and like keeping all my favorite games for my collection

This habbit has lead to a very cluttered house though so I'm trying to let go of sentimental attachments to material things in general

  10. Being a bit of a collector, I prefer physical copies.

  11. Digital sucks because of the controlled pricing and limited distribution (slow Internet speeds for some and not being able to trade games)

Discs have their drawbacks due to longer load times and mandatory installs. Though it is fun watching my game consoles slurp up a disc (shout out to my Wii U and PS3 slim)

    I'd say cartridges/cards is where it's at :p

  12. Digital is the new deal of libraries going out of fashion. That one time I tried to beat Warriors of Might and Magick on PS2 only to realize a stupid scratch in the disc prevented me from getting through one door to get through the rest of the game... FUUUUUUUUU

  13. If you don't keep good care of your shit, digital.

But as others have said, digital essentially adds up to a bunch of dead value in your library over time, where as with disc, you can get a completion on it and never play it again and even put its 'now-value' into something that had similar 'then-value' and save yourself some money.

  14. I like digital and physical. I like being able to show off how many games I have on my steam account, but I also love having a bunch of cases. Even though I have slow AF internet, I still prefer digital. (Steam: Levabeses) I ACCEPT ANYONE THAT WANTS TO CHILL AND PLAY VIDEO GAMES
