Well, my beans got here earlier than expected from Midweek Song. He was super quick, great customer service. I have nothing set up yet, and nothing purchased yet aside from seeds. Anyway, figured I'd start a journal on here. Won't be getting much done till the weekend. But to say I'm excited is an understatement. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna be doing to be quite honest as far as soil, nutes, hell I don't even know what strain yet. But regardless it should be a fun ride. I saw UltraDans main line post, it looks like fun so I think I'm gonna try that. As to start I will germ under a cfl, after that probably buy a 1000w dimming HID. Like I said, I have nothing bought yet, so I'm still reading and learning, and deciding.
Thanks!! It'll be in my closet. Our bedroom is the only place we have a lock on the outside. Space will be 2 feet deep, by 8 ft tall, by 6 or 7 feet wide. Should be over kill on space, but room to have seperated rooms when I get 2 lights.
I was planning on building a plywood cabinet. I didn't see the point in buying a tent. I can make it more custom to my size anyway. Probably cheaper too.
i built my 4x4 cabinet because I wanted to do custom things and do it how I wanted it that being done I am gonna buy a tent next either a 2x4 or a 4x8
I love cabinet grows I think they are so sick. I appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into them. Just make sure you do it right and its safe. I went the easy way and got a tent because it was only 80 bucks and I have no wood working tools.
Thanks for joining Cannabartist. I'm not gonna lie, it won't be pretty. But I'm going form over function, and I'm cheap. In the end, I can add duct flanges where I want. I can mount things where I want. It seems to make sense in my head, and I have the tools to do it.
I cant wait to see the construction unfold... Me and my friend who's an engineer designed a grow cab but we have yet to build it.
I'm a huge fan of over engineering my own stuff. I hate when I have to build another engineers stuff though. I would LOVE to see that built though. I don't have enough expertise to even be able to know what would be helpful, or even useful. Maybe next time around I could come up with some great ideas.

You need a bigger cab if you're gonna go 1k. like 3Dx4Wx6H, or else it will get really hot. I would use an 8 inch centrifugal fan with cooltube... and you should be golden. You can also set your a/c to 72 for better cooling. Gonna peak at 82-84 if you dont have any other cooling device...
It almost never gets above 74 inside. I have a fan that will move air, like a shit load of it, pretty quiet too. Wasn't sure if an in line fan would work or if I needed more power. Cost between the centrifugal and an in line are huge. I'll probably just rig up my squirrel cage fan. It should move as much if not more than the centrifugal. And it's free.
As long as u can move air out and fast, 1k makes a ton of heat. I would highly highly suggest a cool tube set up
Definitely getting a cool tube... no doubt. I also was gonna get a dimmable digital 1000w. I believe it is 50%, 75%, and 100%. I figured it will give me room to grow (no pun intended, well, maybe a little) I have extra space, a basement, just a little worried about it. I have fears of bugs down there. Possibly make that a veg someday.
well, had a slight change in plans. No box. Just gonna be a walk in closet. It happens one of our upstairs closets has vents running through it. I knew it would be perfect but didn't think the wife would go for it. But she brought it up. The bean is soaking in water now. And I picked up soil. They didn't have the seed soil from Fox Farms, so I got ocean forest and a seed soil from Dr. Earth. I'll mix those two and plant in a solo cup tonight after the lil people go to bed. The closet is huge, and perfect for this, with ducts to the roof, bathroom next to it... I'm super excited.
it will give me height restrictions, but only 1/2 of it, and still is 5ft+... I'm thinking of going heavy on the seed starting soil, it has all kinds of good shit in it, I'll list them later
