Bong design flaw or am I just dumb?

  1. First off, here's a video of the piece in action (no smoke)

OK so I got this bong from Grasscity a few months ago now. I don't think it works right and I think it's a flaw in the design. The end of the inline percolator is open, which allows all the air and smoke to flow out without being filtered. I can raise the water as high as it will go and the air still only bubbles out the end. If I tip the bong backwards so the end of the perc is facing down it percs through the first and maybe second slit but never does more than that.

My question is am I right that the percolator is designed wrong or am I just not using this thing right? There was one thread like this started before but nobody ever came to any conclusions.

So here is the bong I got. 7mm glass inline percolator.

here is a video of the bong functioning. Watch how it changes as I tip it.
I have no intentions of returning the bong since honestly it still technically does the job, but I think it's pretty ridiculous that this thing would be sold like this. Anyone with a brain and a half assed knowledge of physics should know that air will take the path of least resistance, so why would they put a hole in the end of the percolator?

  2. thats what happens with cheap glass, my guess is that piece doesnt have any companies logo on it to go off of? mostly likely china glass which means no one that made or over saw the making of that piece has ever hit a bong, let alone taken time to figure out how to make a good one. that mass produce them over there and send them here because kids will buy them for the price. that inline was left open because it would take 2 minutes to heat up and close the end they could of been using to start the next section.

  3. OK so would a propane torch happen to be able to get glass hot enough? I am pretty handy with a torch and metal I just want to push the glass in against the end of the perc.

You are exactly right about the bong by the way. No brand.

  4. I would not risk trying to heat that up and fix the piece, odds are you will end up breaking it and making it worse off then it already is. You might want to bring this to the attention of who you purchased the piece from so they can test the other pieces they have like this. Hopefully they find one that has the same defect and will give you some sort of compensation for the faulty design they sold you.

  5. nah man, you arnt doing glass repairs without a proper torch and most importantly kiln.

  6. Haha just a shit bong, you have learned a valuable lesson

  7. Wasn't sure if the kiln was necessary. I used to have one too dammit... I have a plan b though so I'll make it work.

  8. I got the bong from grasscity. Should I email them about it? It's been "out of stock" since I bought it so at least nobody else bought one.
