I am completely 100% new to this, so bear with me. I germinated this little guy and planted him in soil when the tap was sticking out a couple millimeters under a 65W CFL (I had to use my 90W LED UFO for the first 18 hours because I broke the CFL unboxing it hahaha. Was too late to buy another one.) Anyway I put them under the CFL bulb after 18 hours for another 18 hours and just turned it off not too long ago. I have a timer that needs to be configured.) I made sure the soil was nice and damp. If I'm correct, my plant shouldn't be this tall already with leaves that small? Also, if anyone has any tips or questions that will help me out please don't be shy. Once they're too big I'm moving them out of this box into a bigger area (4x4 about 7' tall) The first pic is day 1. Second pic is day 2. I just moved the light from 12" away to about 8".
Move the light 6" from the plant enough to cover the entire area of the plant. You will need more light for that grow area. I recommend 250 watts. That should cover the entire area of the room.
Hey man your plant is stretching, move the light closer. You can put the CFL literally 1-2" from your seedling with no harm.
I figured it was stretching as well. I'm going to move the light about 4" away. One 65W CFL isn't enough for this one plant as of now? If not, please give me some advice on what other lights I should buy/add right now? As I said, I have a 90W LED UFO light, but I don't even know when to use it. I'm so lpst
You can use either one you would prefer. I personally would recommend using about 200 watt 6500K CFL bulbs and the 90 watt UFO LED during veg with about 250 watt 2700k CFL bulbs with the 90 watt UFO LED during flowering
Well, your grow area is 4x4x7 so, roughly it is 17sqft. That is quite big for one plant using that space without providing enough light will cause you to lose out at harvest. The more light the bigger the harvest.
i mean.......yall say its a waste i disagree completely. And so does my second grow of 420W Single plant http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/1355... ^check it out
When plants are outdoors they are getting about 10,000 lumens per square foot. So more light is always better. If you just want the one plant in that 4x4 area. Make it a little smaller to maximize those lights. But a couple cfls in that space your not gonna get the results you want. I have an area roughly the same size with an 1000 watt hid, which is about the size u want to cover a 4x4 area. Imo your best bet for Least amount of money is a 300 watt led , cfls are good but create a lot of heat compared to leds. So u could get away with less ventilation using leds since they aren't as hot
right now, it's still sprouting in the 60gal. fish tank. is the 65W cfl enough for the tank? or do I need more? I have one extra, so that would make 130W for right now. How much light can my plant handle??
Def put the second one on there. And don't be scared to put the light close to them as well about 6-8 inches off the plant.
light is a lot closer. about to run to the store now for the other light attachment then I'll be good with 130W? it's in a pretty lightproof container Just now realizing how ghetto this looks. Edit: I fixed the box up last night so that the white wrap on the outside isn't flailing all over. it's all secured tight to the glass and holds light better.
How many Kevin are those 65 watt bulbs you are using? 2700k or 6500k? To me they look like they are 2700k which will cause stretching. If they are 2700k I suggest you switch them out for 6500k. To your question: Yes, 130 Watts 6500k will be enough for the time being, but gradually adding more watts as she fills out will definitely help her light needs.
Here is a picture of my Seedsman White Widow grow. She is under 12/12 5th week of flowering. I used only CFLs during the entire grow. 200 watts in 6500k was used during veg and 250 watts in 2700k during flower.
/\\ | That is correct I have heard that is true. Unless you have a reflector around the sides that bounces the light out.
