<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote' >Pro-Palestinian activists aboard a Swedish vessel tried and failed to punch through Israel's maritime blockade of Gaza this week. Israelicommandos boarded the vessel, searched the ship and brought it to an Israeli port.

The foreign activists were detained and are being deported.
In the scope of Middle East confrontations, it was a minor, though publicized, affair.
Afterwards, Israel's defense minister Moshe Yaalon said, “there was no aid on board” the activist ship.
Not necessarily so -- but pretty close. We checked. You decide.
Members of the Gaza flotilla organization -- which sent four boats, three of which turned around before arriving in the vicinity of Israel -- have repeatedly said the vessel that was stopped, Marianne, was carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Well the idea was to break the (legal) blockade of Gaza, their excuse was that they need aid.

    Either way dumb leftist Europeans

  2. Wow, Israel's afraid of a couple of puny boxes of aid.

    Very telling ...

  3. The original J-Dilla knew that you can't just repost a news article without some insight or opinion, otherwise it is considered SPAM or advertising for the originating source.

Although the boat was going to be stopped regardless, I doubt they were expecting the activists to bring such little "aid"...

  5. I did in fact include an opinion..

  6. Doesn't take much symbolism to spook the Great State of Israel ...

  7. So you are telling us the Israeli military is harassing pro Palestinians for a little box of supplies?

  8. If they were smart about it, they would have checked out the boats' contents and then let it through once they saw those puny little boxes of symbols. That would have been a coup of sorts.

At least nobody was killed on this one, unlike the last attempt where 9 activists died. I think it was nine.

  9. well after several attempts to smuggle in weapons disguised as humanitarian aid, I can't blame Israel for enforcing the blockade.

  10. Sure, but once the flotilla cleared security concerns, why stop it?

Very lame for such a mighty State.

Btw, Dilla knew how to hyperlink. Just sayin'.

  11. Because there is a naval blockade imposed and they knowingly breached it perhaps?

If they were truly desperate to bring 2 boxes of humanitarian aid, they could have done so through a land crossing.

  12. Why is there a blockade?

  13. Did you not read the links I included regarding the smuggling of weapons into Gaza disguised as non-military products?

  14. No weapons were found though. Just a couple of boxes that you mocked.

Moshe Yaalon should have said - "there were no weapons on board the activist ship, so we let it through to deliver the two puny parcels of aid."

  15. What?

    No rockets for Hamas onboard?

What was in the boxes K Dilla?

  16. The Gaza activitists said the larger cardboard box contains a solar panel, donated by a Swedish magazine, ETC, which also runs an “environmentally-friendly electricity company.” The panel was bound for Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

Ighe said the Swedish Association of Midwives also donated a nebulizer, a machine used to inhale medicines, often used to calm asthma attacks. That is the small cardboard box.

“Last but not least,” Ighe said, “the boat is cargo in herself, bound to be donated to a fishermen's organization in Gaza.”

“We bring means of production, not means of destruction,” she added.

  17. people are just plain dumb. "our goal was to break the blockade". Okkaaayyy. u wonder wats wrong with this world. People always trying to push other people buttons. If everyone would just mind their own business and let everybody else be, things be so much beter. Man I got to stay away from current events.

  18. its quite reasonable actually.

Regardless of morality or politics, Israel doesn't want weapons smuggled in that will be used against them.
