Here we grow again

  1. Welcome anyone who cares to join. I have finally gotten settled in from the move. Between looking for a job and online school, things have been somewhat hectic. Here is what is going on. I planted 3 seeds on the 18th of last month. Growing dwc. Using flora duo nutes, rapid start, and floralicious. Kool bloom will be added later on. The two outside plants are supposedly blue cheese. The one is the middle Is feminized white widow. They are all on the same feeding schedule except the widow has floralicious in the res. I am more or less experimenting with these plants, now that I have a decent grasp of how not to kill them. They are all taking the full 1400 ppm that is suggested on the chart. When I moved in the tap water was 27 ppm. Last night it read 127. I might need to spend some on a decent tds meter. The flora duo keeps things at a constant 6.5 ph. No worries there. The original idea was to veg all three in the current tent to the height of 12 inches. Move the widow to a 3x3x7 tent with a scrog and a 1000 watt fixture. I'm reading that I should run the fixture on The 600 setting. I am also experimenting with a dual arc bulb that I picked up on the bay for about 40 bucks. I won't be firing it up until I move the widow. I hope it's interesting. Thanks.

  5. Update
Happy 4th guys. I reek of charcoal and chronic, or so my wife says. Things look good. No major issues except for my widows growth. The nodes do not line up across from each other like a normal plant. Is this normal for white widow? It is a dinafem feminized seed. The second pic is a close up of her stalk.

  7. Going 12/12 tonight in this tent. I am going to change my original plans thanks to the good dudes at herbies. My beans got here a couple of weeks ago and I popped a Buddha's sister feminized seed. She will go underneath the 1000 watt dual arc bulb with the intent to scrog later on. I found out that a 1000 watt fixture in a 3x3x7 tent creates a huge cooling problem. 97 degrees inside the tent at night. I decided to shed the tent and just use the tent frame. This way I could still hang the light without drilling holes in the ceiling. I'm renting by the way. The following pics are of the ladies that will go into flower tonight, my dual arc bulb, and the Buddha's sister seedling. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  8. Update:
Here are a few pictures of Buddha's sister 10 days later. She is flourishing. The recommended ppm on the feeding chart for week 2 is 1100 ppm. She's taking just under that at 1050 according to my tds meter. No sign of nute burn and res change was done on Sunday. I had to cut down the two cheese plants because they were males. What a waste of time and nutes. I will only grow seeds that I know to be feminized from now on. I guess it never really dawned on me that they could actually be male. Lesson learned. The remaining white widow is still growing. The lights won't be on until midnight. I will try to get pics in the a.m.

  10. Looks good!
In the future you could always take a clone from a plant early on, and stick the clone into flower. That clone will then verify the sex of the plant you're growing.
Save you from wasted time on a male.

  11. Heat issues are continuing to be a problem. I change the res every 4 days or so. She has grow quite a bit in 4 days. She is just about to span the top of the 5 gal bucket. Ph at 6.0 ppm at 1050. I decided to up the air saturation. I'm running two of the wal mart 3.5 watt pumps. Res holds 4.5 gallons of water. Can't wait to start my first scrog.

  13. I would cover the top of that bucket with some foil tape or black plastic, something to help light from going through the lid. Most buckets and tubs hale light leaks. I wrap mine up and look at the sun through it to check for light.

  14. I just assumed that the blue was dark enough. It does allow penetration. Would foil tape keep things cooler than black tape?

  15. Yes.

  16. My local Hmm Depo has many types and lengths of foil tape. I think they are $4-12, and it sticks to anything.

  17. Yup! Foil tape, ducting tape, it's the shit...

Here we are today. Been really busy with people quitting at work. When I went to remove the net pot from the blue lid in order to use the foil taped lid that I constructed, I notice some of the roots that were sticking out of the side of my net pot would have been shaved off. I decided that would have been a bad move. I did go ahead tape up my remaining spare lids. I have cut out bad roots before, But that was out of necessity. It shocks the hell out of The plant. She has grown quite a bit since last pics. Huge 9 leaf fan leaves. Should I prune the leaves that are laying on the bucket lid?

  19. Looks good. I wouldn't prune them. They're doing their job grabbing light for energy. Plus, they're helping shade the lid.

  20. Ok guys. Forgive the crude scrog. It is comprised of the remnants of a dollar store laundry hamper, duct tape, and green screen from the home improvement store. This will be my first scrog. I think She has a few more weeks before I can switch her to 12/12 for the stretch. Is this correct or should I go about this some other way. Do I need to make the squares in the scrog bigger?
