First outdoor garden EVER

Discussion in 'Outdoor Grow Journals' started by blackwidow21086, Jun 28, 2015.

  1. This is my first outdoor grow ever I have built a 40x40 garden had 6 yards of compost delivered on top of 1000 lbs of cow Pro grow organic fertilizer and a nice layer of lime. I tilled it up until my whole upper body was lobstered from the sun which took about 4-5 hours. Northern lights, dream machine and the dream machine were all clones that I cut in November they were about 6-7 feet tall each when I put them in the garden at the end of may. I buried the stems up about 2-3 feet staked them up and I must say for amateur hour, they don't look half bad. I have a headband an ak-47 and a G-13 plant also that I got as clones and put them in just after I planted the big boys and my little guy.

  2. Nice, Have fun!

    If you can get your hands on some mulch then you can slow the water vap. process and it stops/slows weed from growing.

  3. yes mulch would help but ive already invested way to much into this garden ill just keep pulling the weeds myself I like being outside anyhow and feel like the more work I put into it the more I deserve whatever ol mama nat will bless me with [IMG]

  4. Looking good dude! I wish I could plant mine in the ground like that but I'm limited to 10 gallon pots this season

    Since it's that time of year I've been fine tuning this bit of text I paste where and when needed.. Got tired of typing it out time after time..
    Let me know if it needs corrected or added to.. any constructive criticism is welcome..
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    If your growing outside your going to need an IPM ( integrated pest management ) routine.. This one is mine..
    BT bacillus thuringiensis.. Caterpillar control.. sold under several names
    Safer = http://www.hydroponics.net/i/132569
    Bonide = http://www.territori...CFQaBfgodk0UAug
    Garden Safe = http://www.gardensaf...2845931900.ashx

    Green Cure.. For Powdery Mildew control.. https://www.1000bulb...earchButton.y=0
    Neem oil.. For spider mites, thrip, helps with the caterpillars too but don't use once you start to flower..

    Spinosad as my change up hitter.. So things don't get resistant.. https://www.1000bulb...SUN-704606.html?
    Captian Jacks = http://www.hydrogala...CFQphfgodNUsADw
    BT-I as mosquito dunks and bits for Fungal Gnats... [IMG]

    To avoid the sprayer contamination issue I had last year I simply bought 4 sprayers
    http://www.lowes.com...ayers=
    Most all of this can be found at Home Depot or Lowes except the Green Cure.. Hydro shop for that..
    Buy a new sprayer and rinse really well between solutions or buy multiple sprayers like I did..
    I do my treatments like any good farmer.. up well before dawn
    Spray BT on Monday..
    Green Cure on Tuesday
    Neem on Wednesday.. Only in veg
    Spinosad Thursday as needed

  6. So I caged in the big northern lights plant the other day. I used that orange safety fence stuff with some birch limbs pounded in the ground as posts. Ill get some pics up after this beautiful rain comes and goes...... Loving the rain around the country this year. my girls are sooooooo happy!
