New Design for Forum

Discussion in 'Forum Tech Questions, Problems and Troubleshooting' started by Lizard King, Jun 23, 2015.

  1. Dear Grasscity Blades,
We're super stoked to announce the highly anticipated launch of the newly redesigned Grasscity Community website. Since the year 2000, we have offered a community for those interested in the Cannabis lifestyle and, over the years, our website has grown tremendously and has undergone many changes. We have listened to you and have crafted a website that will satisfy the wants and needs of all of the Blades of the Grasscity Community.
Among the many improvements with this new streamlined design, we offer:
    • An advanced Editor for posting which includes Mobile Editor Support and an excellent Drop and Drag feature for Photos that makes it easy to share with your fellow Blades.
    • Responsive Design that will be more user-friendly for all of our members, the iOS app and the Android apps are still available, but it will be much easier to browse the forum on your tablets and mobile phones without needing the native apps.
    • Forum Hide feature that will allow you to have your favorite sections expanded and available without having other sections in your way.
    • User Drop Down Menu that will allow better access to everything you need regarding your account
    • Reputation System that will offer perks and is based on the quality rather than the quantity of your posts. This new system will reward loyal and active users, with discounts, Grasscity forum merchandise and much more.
    • Grow Journal system that will allow growers more control of their journals with an amazing integrated gallery feature so that all pictures within the journal can be viewed at once.
Also, you can expect many more improvements and additions to come, one of which will be a powerful Search feature that will facilitate faster location of information on our site about a specific topic or keyword.
Please bare in mind a transition like this is always a compromise between old and new, but without it we would be stuck in the past and we would not be able to offer you the best of the best. The road might be bumpy the coming days, but bare with us, give us your feedback in the feedback forum, report bugs and errors and we will be soon back on track to be the best Cannabis Forums on the Net.
We can't thank you enough you for being a loyal member of the Grasscity Community and we hope to see you in the forums soon and that you will be pleased with the result.

    The Grasscity Team

  2. Still need a whole site browser for us mobile communication users.

  3. Ah dang does this mean I have to start my grow journals all over again?

  4. I'll smoke to this, great work guys!

  5. Oh snap......rep system!

  6. Based on number of posts apparently :p

  7. any way to put in something so we can change the bg color? I'm not one of those people that enjoy being blinded by the whiteness.

I posted in User Feedback but no new topic was created.

Looks too much like a phone app, posts are large, margins are HUGE. If you do zoom out to make posts smaller and to read more it doesn't help because everything is so centered.

Also this, it feels like I'm reading a light bulb.
^ and I will never be a fan of the built in advertising. 9/10 it brings it up in the wrong context and it's extremely off putting. I'm talking about shopping links by SkinWords in case the link doesn't show up.

The big black bar that screems in my face "new content" won't go away.

  9. Just to let you all know , we have plans to create a darker version of the design. Our testers supplied that feedback and we always listen our fellow blades suggestions. It may take some time to do it , but that is one of our critical tasks in hand.

We also will like to thank to all our users whom assisted us during testing stages to clean out the bugs.

  10. Here is one thing that would be useful. the ability to see all your notifications. What I mean is currently when you click on your notifications it gives you a condensed drop down list but it should give you the option to be able to go to all the notifications individually. Right now I can right click and view them all at once but it'd be nice if I didnt have to and could see what new posts I still have.

  11. Can we get rid of the status bar under the user name? The system doesn't make sense when it's based on how many likes a member has.

  12. Oooh oooh I just thought of this just now but what about the option to follow posts by a specific user in a thread. Instead of getting a notification every time someone posts you get one only one a specific user posts.

  13. Brown and green rep, what's the difference? And rep is based on likes or post count?

Something like this for example, it was just 1 line of CSS:

  15. This is all making me very uncomfortable.

  16. Likes...

The different colour bars represent different "rep" levels and titles...the first one is a silver colour (noob), then a bronze/brown (beginner), then green (advanced), then gold (master)...have no idea why that particular colour progression, but that appears to be what it is...it's gonna take people forever to get a full gold bar...it's not maxed out at 60K likes...soooo...

  17. You'd think noob would be bronze and beginner would be silver no?

  18. Superjoint will release an announcement on that once we clear out any possible identified bugs :) For now lets keep it as a mystery [IMG]

  19. If you cant give people rep, actual rep (not likes) then its not really rep is it? Can someone please take a moment and explain to me why we cant implement actual reputation system like we had before? Where your rep grows based on who gives you rep, different blades had different rep capabilities. But now what? We get likes as a form of rep? how is that rep? in what way?
I miss the good old days, you guys say you listen, but if you had conducted an actual poll: Old gc with rep vs new gc and no rep, we'd know for certain what the gc community wants.
Another question: why was the need to change the system up? Is it easier to manage?
/rant (you can tell I dont respond well to change )
