  2. Grats on your first post but i think its interesting and ironic that you post this on the organics section but you don't even have 1 pot with the cc soil mix, which most of us here use...

  3. Can no till grows match these super soil grows?

  4. A no till is even better. The term, "super soil" makes me laugh personally. [IMG]

Why should everyone that gardens organically use a single recipe? Many dont use "the cc soil mix". IMO these are guidelines and nothing more.

Edit - or follow any specific recipe, for that matter?

  6. "Here, since you don't know that all this crap exists already in your backyard, follow this recipe, and buy this stuff. Then call it organics."

  7. I like the cage idea with the bamboo stakes... reminds me of the game Ker Plunk lol. Try burying the actual metal cage in the soil 6-8" and it will really be windproof.

  8. while I certainly understand that this means different things to different folks, and that everyone does this differently "organic gardening" has become much different for me than it used to be. I used to use a lot of different items in my homemade potting soils. These days are much simpler and I like it a lot better this way. These days I grow my indoor Garden in Leaf mold compost, horse manure, rotting sticks, kitchen scraps, lobster shells, comfrey. I did buy a 5 pound sack of Epsoma kelp recently... lol

I know that not everybody can do that though. Welcome to the forum OP. Thanks for sharing your plants and methods.

  9. Well said Jerry. I didn't mean to sound holy. I suppose it takes the introduction of these materials via a box, just to get anyone going really.

  10. you are right. of course nobody has to follow any set recipe i was wrong to say that. i guess i was just upset because honestly it looks like an endorsement post to me. i could be wrong on that as well but it kinda reminded me of that Cervantes video on how to mix soil and i just posted out of impulse. anyway im sorry if i came off snobbish.

  11. scooby, of course it's entirely cool and I didn't mean to come across negatively either - so peace! Trust me on this - I'm not personally a fan of Subcool, etc, but so be it and we should welcome all of course. At the same time I'd love to see a good, basic "CC mix" go up against any of the described mixes above, but at the end of the day I don't think there's really any way to compare any mixes due to the million different varieties of compost and vermicompost, unless of course all mixes were to use, say an equal 50/50 mix of Worm Power and Coast of Maine Lobster Compost (again, just an example). It's so hard to compare mixes because it always and forever comes back to the goodness of the compost.

I wasn't trying to lash out either and apologize if I came actoss that way. There are so many different ways to skin a cat with this thing we do - which is one of the reasons it's so cool - and effective!

I'd love to see CCs mix compared to these soils he's mixing also. Lobster compost/worm power mix would be a good comparison, even if it fell short of being superior to those mixes nobody could say it wasn't quality compost being used. I've secretly always wanted to see that.
