curious about cannacaps

    ive recently decided to try and make my own cannacaps. i have a magical butter machine that im going to use to make the oil. im just curious as to how much bud and coconut oil i should use to make dank capsules. ive seen ppl say they used an 8th for beginners caps but ive also seen someone say they used a quarter n got some pretty strong caps out of it. so there the question of how much bud and oil to use but i always am wondering how to you kno how many mgs are in each capsule. the dispensary i bought my caps from had em labeled at 50mgs a piece but how can you tell if you jus use a syringe to fill the caps? im truly confused about this. any answers will help. also will more herb result in more oil or jus stronger oil.

    I personally use 0.1g (100mg) of kind bud per capsule. That is a good amount for MY tolerance. What is your tolerance? How much herb do you smoke in a typical session?

    The edibles you buy at the dispensary that are labeled with mg of THC content, you need lab equipment to calculate that.

    what do u mean by kind bud? and i usually can be good for a couple hrs off a few bowl but ive decided to put the smoke down its causing problems with my throat so im going to use cannacaps instead. what ive found to work fastest is to take a capsule (i have 50mg from the dispensary) n crack it open onto the corner of sum toast so the bread soaks up as much as it can. im not tryn waste any u kno. how much herb do u use to make a whole batch of oil tho? 1/8? 1/4? would more bud make more oil or just danker oil?

    "Kind bud" is a local slang where I live for "good pot."

    The amount of herb you should use equals the amount you want per dose, times the number of capsules you plan on making.

    If you don't know a good dosage for your tolerance, my recommendation is, next time you smoke "a few bowl" weigh it to find out how much you smoke. I can't answer that question for you.

    a good.5 bowl or baby joint keeps me high fora couple hrs so say i wanted to fill 100 capsules with dank oil so each cap is fire, would a 1/4 b enuff bud to use?

    50 but that doesnt answer my question bout using a 1/4...im just tryin to get answers obviously im a rookie when it come to makin these. i dnt understand why ppl come on a forum for advice n be condescending when ppl seek that advice but whatever man

    wait maybe u did answer my question im terrible at math so plz correct me if im wrong but u sayin .5 x 100 with a 1/4 would be 14 x 100 so ur basically sayin i could get 140 capsules from a 1/4? like i sed absolutely awful at math so if this wrong i dont doubt it

    Bro if you want to half a gram potency for each cap that's two for each gram. A quarter will only make you 14 caps, to make 100 you need 50 grams. Cheers

    im gonna take a 1/4 oz n sum coconut oil n throw it in the machine i got to make the oil im jus not sure if they are gonna be dank or how to measure em out to monitor my intake thats all im trying to find out

    If you want 100 capsules of 0.5g potency, then put the marijuanas on the scale until it says 50g.
     
    Then you need to calculate the correct volume of oil. What size are your capsules?

    Multiply the volume per capsule times the number of capsules (100 in this case) to get the total quantity of oil.
     
    For example if you are using 00 size capsules, they hold 0.91ml per capsule, so you need 91ml of oil.
     
    Summary: 50g herb into 91ml oil = 100 "00" size capsules containing the extract of 0.5g per capsule.
     
    DISCLAIMER #1... Some oil will be absorbed into the herb and lost in the processing, so you might only get 90 capsules for example. If it is important to get the full 100 then use a little extra oil to compensate. 
     
    DISCLAIMER #2... It is going to be tough to cram that much herb into so little oil. I've never used the Magic Butter machine before, so, maybe it has this capability? But my instinct is telling me you might need to use hash or concentrates to achieve your desired capsule strength, otherwise you just won't have enough oil to adequately cover the herb during cooking. As mentioned I use only 0.1g of herb per capsule and have no experience making them 5 times stronger. If you found yourself eating puddleglum-strength capsules, then maybe you would find them a little weak? [​IMG]

    ty for this response seriously. now at your .1 u use what would you say your mg count is at per capsule? these 50 mg capsules seem to be workin just fine for me but i want to make them myself. and again im terrible with math so if im wrong i apologize but if i weigh up 50gs wouldnt i be making 500mg capsules at that point? if so i do not want to do that. right now i just want to learn how much herb n oil i should use to make around 50, 50mg capsules. or even 50, 100mg caps. theres alot more to this than i expected so its very confusing

    If you want to say "this capsule contains 50mg of THC" and sell it in dispensaries, then you need to send samples to a laboratory with the right testing equipment. I do not have the skills or equipment to do it in my home kitchen. (You probably don't either, but I don't want to sound condescending, so... maybe you do?) Now... if you made me guess, I would estimate that my 100mg of ganja capsules contain nowhere near 50mg of THC, probably less than 10mg.
     
    May I ask if you have ever used your Magic Butter Machine before? Have you read any of their instructions or tried any of their suggested recipes, such as the Base Recipes for Butter, Oil, Tincture, or Essential Oil? If you did try any of the recommended recipes, how much herb did you use per serving? What were the results? Did you get appropriately "fire"?

    na i dont have testing equipment although they do sell it at the dispensary i go to i just dont kno if i really trust a home test vs a real lab test. n yea ive made cannabutter before but not the oil but i didnt use enough herb when i made the butter (only 1/2 oz) very weak butter. but ok ill check her out. how much oil / grams do u use when u make capsules? n how many capsules can you make out of what you put in?

    maybe theres a potency difference between the cannabutter n the oil? idk thts why im trying ask around n i saw a guy comment on a cannacap vid on youtube sayin his buddy used 1/4 n got 100+ capsules. im just trying to figure this out man

    1/4oz = 7 grams
     
    7 / 100 = 0.07
     
    If you divide 7g into 100 capsules then there will be 0.07g (of herb, not of THC) per capsule. Is this a good dose for your tolerance, in your experience? If you smoked 0.07 bowl or rolled 0.07 joint, how would it make you feel? I personally would expect only mild effects from 0.07g.
