    Hello fellow GrassCity members!

This is my first post on GrassCity and I hope to have many more. I wanted to talk about my tolerance and see what suggestions other members have towards it. If I've forgotten to mention something, please feel free to remind me as my memory and story telling are both terrible. Thanks.

I started smoking about six years ago. When I started smoking it was purely social aside from the fact that I had a general interest towards Marijuana myself, but never smoked alone. Having a few tokes from a spliff at lunch with friends was ideal to me, and I enjoyed the feeling I got when I was high. Everything felt amazing while I was high, music sounded incredible, food tasted amazing and I could stare at nothing for hours on end. These were the good days, back when I could get STONED off a gram or less.

I was eventually introduce to something called "Poppers" (Not those bottles you drink/sniff to get high) "Poppers" are when you rip a piece of a cigarette off and stuff it into a bill piece without a bowl. So it's basically a downstem with a piece of tobacco holding the weed up. Then you pack the weed on top of the tobacco light it up and smoke it all. Once the tobacco burns it will fall down the bill piece into the bong and so will the weed. This is the best I can explain "Poppers" if you still don't know what I'm talking about and care to know, I'm sure you can Youtube it. Anyway, I was introduced to Poppers when I moved into a new area as a way to conserve weed when their were multiple people and little herb. Since a quarter of a Popper is tobacco it made sense to me.  The first time I smoked a Popper was insane. It's just like hitting a bong normally but the effect is a little different in my opinion. The head rush I got when I hit Poppers was insane. I never got this feeling from bong tokes before.

Six years later and I'm still smoking these nasty things. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made as a stoner was mixing marijuana and tobacco. I'll give you my daily run down; When I wake up in the morning I get out of bed and grab a drink to clear my throat, after that I'll smoke a Popper or two and then occupy myself for a hour or so. Which is when I'll take a few more tokes while doing whatever, I basically just take rips all day until I pass out.  I was wondering if their is anyone else on GrassCity
forums that smokes Poppers as well? Would love to hear what you have to say about the subject.
Regardless of Popper knowledge I would love to hear what fellow stoners do while on a Tolerance break? And how they push through it? I find myself saying I'm going to take a break and then I smoking two hours later. Right now I am on a forced break due to the fact I purposely smoked all my weed and can't grab until the week. (today is Saturday)
I tried eating breakfast this morning, but couldn't finish half of it. My stomach seems to feel uneasy without marijuana, and I will catch the odd break out of cold sweats, are these withdrawal symptoms?  Currently on hour 17 since I smoked last. (Ya, I time it cause I'm that much of a fiend!)

Thanks for reading my post, hope to hear some awesome advice. Like I said if I forgot to mention something please let me know and I'll edit the post and add it in.

    Cheers!

  2. Yo ReeferRob,

Never tried poppers myself, where I'm from we call them Mauls though so I am definitely familiar with the concept. From what I've heard personally, mixing tobacco and weed in a bong makes taking a T-Break waaaayyyy harder. It also makes it hard for you to get a noticeable effect off of straight greens when you have them. I took a month off from weed a couple weeks back and noticed nothing significantly different, besides the occasional, "Man this would be great high" or a craving once and a while. I never use bongs personally, only on rare occasions. (Although I do think you make the most out of your weed with one)

If you want to take a break, or at least not be so dependant, I would recommend maybe rolling spliffs instead and weaning yourself off that way slowly. Going cold turkey will be the hardest on your body for sure, but it's also effective. That's my 2 cents, good luck with your tolerance break!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Thanks for the response mate!

I smoked two spliffs before I ran out of weed, so hopefully that was enough to make me realize its the tobacco I am physically craving and the weed is all mental cravings. ( I doubt it though [IMG] ) That statement about tobacco messing with the effects of your green is too true. I'm not exactly sure what tobacco does to the effects of weed, but back when I first started smoking marijuana a single cigarette after a session was amazing, it would give my heart rate that extra boost. Now I rarely feel the effects of tobacco or marijuana as much as I used to.

Thanks again for the post, it keeps me motivated!

    Thanks again for your post!

  4. Update: It has been 24 hours woohoo! Sweating like a motherfucker and can't sleep. (It's 1AM and still wide awake)
Didn't eat anything today except half of my breakfast. My stomach is still uneasy.

Hopefully day two will be a breeze.

    Whatsup Reeferbob

I live in the California bay area, and we call poppers mokes here. what i do is that i pack a tree snapper then just sprinkle some tobacco on top and snap it. I do the same as you. I wake up, make coffee and then take a couple mokes and end up taking 2 more throughout the day. Ive been taking a lot recently because I am on summer break from school. Mokes are great, I love them. I am still trying to figure out how my body is suffering though. I havent noticed any differneces in my

    breathing.

One thing i did notice though is that just a couple days ago i started feeling sharp pains in my heart and occasianly in my head. I have taken one moke since this happened and i

got a heart pain 20 minutes after. Maybe from my heart pumping too fast? Not sure.

Im planning on reducing the amount of tobacco i consume. But usually per moke I use maybe like 1/7th of a cigarette and dont put the papers in.

Have you noticed any changes in your health due to taking poppers? i have been taking them for about 3 months and been smoking weed for 2 years.

  6. I live in Teignmouth, a small seaside town on the south coast of the UK. And what you call "Poppers", over here we call "Shotties".

I started smoking myself around a year and a half ago, strictly spliffs with friends and such, you know the drill.
I probably started smoking alone really around 7/8 months ago, again spliffs - until i bought my first bong around 5 months ago, smoking strictly shotties. Man, it was crazy - I loved the high and it didn't seem to affect my tolerance much. Until April.

I came down with the flu and it got pretty serious but i managed one night to drag myself to a shift at work (I work at one of the busiest cafe's around the local area and i worked a fully booked night - VERY hectic). At work, i was coughing so much and all of a sudden i felt a HUGE pain in my right lung. I collapsed and two of the very panicked waitresses dragged me into the back room. Turns out what happened is my flu (and most likely constant shotty smoking) caused the lining of my lung to rip and a great deal of fluid drained into my right lung. Yup, brutal - Called pluerisy or something like that.

Then it was time for a T break - I could barely bloody breathe, let alone smoke anything! (bear in mind i was a 20 a day smoker ASWELL as huffing around 9-10 shotties a day) so the withdrawal was something else man. I literally had to lay two-three towels under me when i slept because i was literally sweating buckets. My parents at this point knew exactly what was going on and sussed it out straight away. But, they helped me through it but it was tough man. I honestly said to myself one night night i'd never smoke again. I tried to keep myself as busy as i could - Netflix and a Gears of War binge was my month, pretty much. T breaks are BRUTAL, you just have to keep your mind busy man!

Here I am now, in July - I no longer smoke cigarettes - only an e-cig which i rarely use, only really on break at work. I do, however, still smoke around 7-8 shotties a day and my lungs are handling it fine, it's only really if i have a cheeky cig or two on a night out that i can really feel my lungs straining. It's all about minimal tobacco consumption in my eyes, i put a TINY tobacco ball on the pipe and that's that. Pack the weed 4x the size and fire away.

  7. Lots of my homies do poppers and they are fucking brutal. Poppers are to bong tokes what crack is to coke lmfao
Your intentions are good and you're just trying to conserve the bud you have...but the side risks are (imho) not worth it.
You end up extremely addicted to the tobacco and the bud itself doesn't even really matter anymore. It also wreaks havoc on your lungs. One of my best friends does around 6 poppers a day and he takes breaks from it only when he starts coughing up traces of blood.
I've tried to get him to stop for years but he just won't listen to me :\\

  8. I'd suggest trying to slowly wean yourself off the tobacco by adding progressively less to your poppers. Eventually you'll be able to smoke pure bowls again.

I used to mix my spliffs with about 1/6 a ciggy to even it out and flesh it out a bit more...til i realized I was craving smoking a spliff way more than I used to...and that my lungs were killing me all the time. Slowly cut back on the tobacco and now my spliffs are pure or mixed with a pinch of high quality rolling tobacco only (no cig tobacco!) and I feel so much better and I get a way less drowsy/dazed high [IMG]

  9. Smoked a few poppers back in the day while I was toking and or drinking. An amazing rush for what little you're smoking, especially if you use a huge bong you might find yourself stumbling around in pure bliss. If you do them once in a blue moon you're essentially getting that "first cigarette" honey moon buzz and it's pretty crazy. Do them too much and we end up with OP's story. Best of luck getting off the dirty habit. My friend coughs up black balls of tar / resin from doing too many, hopefully that is encouragement enough.

  10. unless you also smoke cigs by themselves your withdrawing from weed and tobacco at the same time. weed withdrawls is really just lose of appeitite and insomina. the cold sweats thing is tobacco. i never did a popper but i have one friend that loves packing the bottom layer of his pieces, water and otherwise, with a bit of tabacco without telling anyone, my lungs cant do that shit man. tobacco threw a water piece is about the nasiest thing in the world imo headrush or not.

    I disagree with This...
This is purely not true. There are multiple reports from people including myself sweating profusely 12+ hours after not using if you use daily.

I still get the odd cold sweat every few hours now, on my fifth day break... after 3 years of daily use with one year of heavy use.
Well to me it was (6 big cones a day on average)

However I will heavily agree the bacco will be making it alot harder.

  14. Holmes keep yo self busy as hell ! Work out, get a job, find a different hobby. Stop smokn tobacco. Withdrawal is tough but it never last more than a few weeks. Trust me. You might b different cause u smoke hella tobacco though
