I have been guilty of knowing the importance of maintaining rez temps within proper range, but not applying it consistently. IDIOT! The worst part is it was due to laziness to find a solution. After 3 hot summers doing hydro indoors (in a very hot room) I finally got off my ass and started figuring out how to keep my rez cool on the cheap. Probably near impossible to do in a DWC system. Just another reason to convert to an outboard rez. My reveg is exceeding known expectations due to resolving the rez temp issue If there's an interest I'll provide how I solved it PASSIVELY
Always interested in what others have done... Let's see what you have done! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I use lots of reflective tape and keep my res on a cold concrete floor, I've got away without a cooler so far and my res temps stay between 55-65 but in a month or so it will stop getting cold at night and I might not be able to get away with it.
I buried mine three feet underground. It stays a constant 55 degrees, but now I can't drain in, fill it, or do anything with it, really... I kid! Tell us more of your method. You can tell it AGGRESSIVELY if you'd like.
Some people are lucky enough to have a nice cold concrete floor. The biggest improvement to the potency of my grow was the result of using a chiller.
Read post #6. http://forum.grasscity.com/aeroponics/1375158-impo... You will probably hit the dew point before you get to the lowest temp your grow is happiest with.
thanks dude that article was very informative and i saw your other post where your temp dropped to 50 and the plant grew rapid. do you still keep it at 50 since the results were so good? id still have to assume thats cold as hell for the plant. so my question is still, on average, what do you usually keep your temp since you have the chiller now
I keep my temp a degree or two above the dew point so I don't get condensation pooling under the plumbing. Around 63 deg F.
I see I abandoned my own thread lol I neglected to hit follow, which is automatic on other grow sites First attempt I used a round igloo and ran the copper coil inside with frozen gallon jug in the middle, then ran one end into the rez. That didn't work. I tried several methods before finally settled into ... A 24 can Igloo with 1/4" copper coil from Lowes/HD sitting halfway under the kitty liter rez with the other half of the coil in the open side. I add jugs of frozen water + ice to the open area. This lasts several hours. I also put a one liter frozen jug directly in the rez to rapid cool. I keep it ~ between 50-60, but overnight it warms to high 60s First pic is from 5/21 second pic from this morning
Maybe. I only have this issue 3-4 summer months. If I were not a stay at home grower, most definitely
ohh okay and one last question(s) you seem like you know your stuff and none else is helping me out so i figured id ask.... I was wondering if you have any experience with Aero/NFT or Aero/DWC or both? With Aero/DWC Ive noticed people put plants in a rubber tote while the plant is submerged in water and getting sprayed at the same time ... and I've noticed another way that resembles NFT were plants are in a flood table thats above the reservoir and the plants are sprayed and the running water drains back into the reservoir and gets sprayed again. any idea on which produces more potency, more yield, less bugs/mold etc.?
