    Hello everyone!

New to the forum here, been reading around on here as I have started my first grow.

Found seeds in some good ass grape ape and thought I'd go for it. Currently I have 4 plants about to go into veg, I just got my new light today, it's a 4ft 4blb HO t5 grow light. Two of the bulbs are 6500k and two are 3000k. I only have the two 6500k bulbs on (2 ballast and two switches built in, one switch controls two bulbs). I also have two 23w 6500k CFLs as well. Got a fan pointed at the plants, overhead ceiling fan on circulating air around as well. Temp is 71 and humidity is at 60%, pH is 7. Using a 20-20-20 right now, will be switching to 30-10-10 for veg, and 10-30-20 for flowering.

Does all of that sound about right? Lighting look okay? How do you guys think they look?

Thanks for reading, looking forward to some feedback!

  2. Hello there, the plants look nice and healthy.
For veg you have a good amount of light and everything else sounds good! Your off to a good start!
Veg for a good 2 weeks and then top those pretty little ladies.

  3. is that aluminum foil?

I remember reading that the inside of potato chip bags (doritos ftw) is supposed to be a good reflective surface that is a bit better than foil.

Looks good to me! I likes!

  4. Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear they are looking good! Now I need to read up on this "topping" concept and how to train them.

  5. Do you guys think the light is too high? Should it be closer to the plants?

  6. The cooler the lights, the closer they are the better. Just don't have them touching the plant and have a small fan blowing just over the tops.

  7. Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it! Going to hang the light soon so adjustability should be easy enough.

  8. Little update, transplanted them into 1ft pots today, and they look great! Roots everywhere! Moved the light down with these new pots, hope the veg well.

  9. Can anyone tell me how long it takes from seedlings to harvest for grape ape? And also, what the interval is for veg stage and the interval for flowering stage?? Thx

  10. I also run Grape Ape. And mine are usually anywhere 57-63 days for flower under a 1 600 Hps and 1 600 mh. I Veg for about 6 weeks. The stretch is about 6-8 inches after I flip. Good luck. One of my favorite strains..

  11. So are you saying it is 57-63 days from when your plant sprouts to when you harvest?

  12. I have a mother I use clones from her and I Veg them for 6 weeks.

  13. And then when I flip them to 12/12 it's about 57-63 days to crop

  14. Okay, so it will be in vegetation stage for 6wks, and then when I switch to flowering bulbs, it will stay in flowering stage for 57-63 days, gotcha. So all and all, about 4.5 months from the sprout of seedlings to harvest, or 120 days.

  15. Hello everyone, I am planning to top my plants as it seems that most are doing this for indoor grows.

Got some new pictures here, not sure if anyone is following this thread or not, but if so, I got two more t5 HO 6500k bulbs, so now 4, 4ft bulbs. They seem to like having more light. They seem to be growing quite a bit since transplanting took place last Saturday.

What do you guys think? Do you think they are ready to top? Do they look healthy?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes they look nice and healthyyou could top now, but I would wait one more week then top away. Is that the last time your going to transplant them?

  17. Okay, will wait another week before topping.

And, Idk, I thought 1gal would be good till harvest? No? What do you suggest?

  18. sorry, the pots are 1ft* not one gallon. To be honest Idk how many gallons these pots are..

  19. You want to go 3gal at least. If you don't your roots will be pot bound before its time to flower. Just relax and be patient.

  20. You were absolutely right. Did the math, and the pots they were in were about 1.5/2 gallon pots, way too small. Root bound.

So I decided I would do 5 gallon smart pots, but then stumbled upon many threads of people using Walmart tote bags with great success. The consensus was that they do basically the same thing, and smart pots are over priced, the only difference being the tote bag doesn't allow the roots to exit the bag but the smart pot does. One person found this out when using the smart pot outdoors, and the roots grew through the smart pot and into the ground, which made it impossible to remove the plant from the pot without damaging the plant.

Did the transplant yesterday and I am so glad you mentioned your concern about the pots they were in, thank you! All 4 plants were root bound in their pots! I appreciate all of the help, insight, and tips that everyone has given. This forum is invaluable for a first time grower!

This morning, they are looking really good. Better than they looked yesterday morning in their old pots. And I ditched the aluminum foil for mylar and it's so much better. Hoping they will be able to stay in these totes until harvest.

Current plan is to give them another week (next Saturday 07/04/15) and I'll top them. From there, let them continue to veg for another month, maybe month and a half, then switch to 2700k 12/12.

But first thing first is to get a handle on giving them nutes, the droopy girl in the back has me a little worried. Thought maybe over watered, so we stopped watering to let her dry out a bit and see if that solved it, but she is showing some yellowing and spotting too, so I stopped feeding because of this as well. Maybe nitrogen deficiency? I gotta figure out how much and how often I need to feed them. Bout to do a deep dive into some nutrient threads, don't want to hurt them!

Shit... I never thought growing weed would be so involved! I gotta say tho, my wife and I are enjoying every step of the process tho! Thanks again everyone!
