anxiety attacks??

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by Orholam, Jun 16, 2015.

  1. heya GC! so im looking for some advice i guess, if possible someone with a professional medical background would be prefferable?
ill need to tell a little of my story so pls bear with me.
ok so was a long time toker but admittedly a heavy (very heavy) toker to the point where unfortunately i was abusing the substance during my late teens/early 20's (im in my mid 30's now). anyway one day whilst sharing a bowl amongst close friends i experienced a pretty extreme anxiety attack! like call an ambulance im having a heart attack! kind of anxiety attack, ever since that day I can not even have a single toke on a joint without feeling the beginnings of an attack! its a really crap situation! i miss the feeling of being baked, not that i want it all the time but its something id like to experience (safely) again someday.
im just wondering if anyone here has experience with this sort of issue and if there is a way of dealing with it or if mj just isnt for me any more??
p.s. luckily i derive almost as much enjoyment from cultivating cannabis as i did consuming it! truly is an amazing plant.....

  2. cbd strains bro. they reduce the anxiety from the high thc strains. natures balance yo

  3. I've had anxiety attacks.

It's literally the worst feeling in the world, so I know what you're going through. As someone who can trigger himself into an anxiety attack due to marijuana, yes, I want you to know that it is possible to get back to the place where it won't trigger you.

I had a phase where marijuana could NOT give me an anxiety attack (this was before my first anxiety attack of course.)

Then a phase where marijuana would trigger an anxiety attack almost each time I smoked.

Then a phase where I couldn't trigger it again.

And now I'm at the place where I can still theoretically trigger it, but I would have to be really abusing my body in the meanwhile. I'm proud to say I got "over" the anxiety.

If you've had an anxiety attack, you know that it's all in your head. I've had my heart rate, pressure and blood sugar all tested during an anxiety attack and my vitals are all normal, it is literally you creating a physical response in your head.

  4. Start your day off telling your self no negative thoughts. ignore all thoughts that tend to bring you down or make you over think. Personally that's how my anxiety was started, over thinking trying to puzzle the impossible, thinking about things that people said bad about you, thinking about life to much and not being in the present moment will do that to you. The day you find you inner peace then you will be able to toke in peace

I'm telling you if you drink a lot of water, exercise, run and eat your vegetables and fruits, while not letting negatively in to your life, living in the present moment just loving the life you live you will never have these attacks. If you want to smoke I suggest a joint to the face in nature. No cigarettes!

  5. wise words my friend! thanks for taking the time to reply. i do look after myself very well health wise these days although i should spend a little more time getting my head right admittedly.
from my experience though its not entirely a mental issue, i say this because the list time i consumed MJ was on the last leg of a holiday stopping through amsterdam, obviously i couldnt resist the opportunity (it had been about5-7 yrs since id tried to smoke) so my girlfriend and i indulged in some brownies, sure enough 30 mins later im hanging on for dear life when my GF suggests i take half a sleeping tablet, cant remember what it was? diazapam, tremazapam? anyway it was like flicking a switch! boom! no more anxiety, no drowsiness from the tablet just GLORIOUSLY stoned! cue the giggling fits and EPIC munchies! to this day the best pizza ive ever eaten was that evening in amsterdam..... its times like that that i truly miss!
thanks for your advice mate im gonna give the high cbd strains a try as suggested by galaxy 420, will grow it myself so therell be no doubts about quality, might look into some meditation classes in the meantime though.

I bless the bud for giving me anxiety attacks. Anxiety is not something that is happening to you, like physical pain. It's something that you DO. Yo can't handle the situation and you panic. Somehow that's how you are while some others are not. I would say that giving me anxiety attacks, shoving me face first into this pile of compost I found myself in and thus directing my attention to it, this is the most valuable thing I got out of my affair with bud.
