New room 2yrs waiting

  1. Hey everybody, I finally back at had to take a couple years off marriage family etc... But wife gave me thumbs up for a grow. Generally I would use use soil and last two grows I did were soil less coco coir. This time around I'm thinking of going DWC tub and doing them low and fat, while running some clones.

My grow space is a utility shed on the back of the house. I was getting some suggestions on ventilation, lighting CO2. The space is about 5ft x 2ft x 7ft.

The back shelf I plan to use for clone/ mother station. I'm in the southwest region and the temps hit 100s but brick wall keeps it -10 below exterior temp.

    -600 w hps w/digital ballast
    -6 in vortex fan
    -2ft 4 tube t5 cfl
    -(Soil less mix) or (DWC)
-(DIY AC) or (5k btu AC)

  2. Soil less mixture sounds like a better idea. If temps are gonna be an issue res temps are gonna be a struggle without a chiller.

  3. That is what a buddy of mine was telling me about the DWC and temps above 75 water born illness increase. I was thinking of making a dwc tub inside of a larger tub and the space lined with insulation to make like a cooler type of dwc so that i don't have to do a water cooler.

It's true. That being said it is not impossible to do. With the right nutes and ALOT of air it is do able. My res temps are between 72-78 I have no problems but I have a min of 4 airstones per bucket. No problems.

If it were me I would set up a top feed drip system. That way you can have 1 Res and spend a little extra for an aquarium chiller, You will have 0 problems keeping res temps at 65 which is ideal no matter what.

Also just looked at your pics again. You may want to put up some insulation on the wall between the room an your water heater. That thing is gonna put off a lot of heat.

  5. How big are the buckets that you are using for yours? And what size air stones are you using?

I was thinking about top feed also seems just as simple and maybe some of the evaporation will help chill the water. I had a buddy of mine show me a couple plans for a diy water chiller using the cooling system for like a 5 gallon house dispenser.

My biggest thing is probably my budget since I'm the bread winner, and all the advice is greatly appreciated. I will for sure use it and DIY it to the best of my abilities. For the water heater I plan to make a false wall / door that will seperate the areas for temp regulation but will still insulate the walls in the contained area.

  6. They veg in 3.5 gallon buckets then move to 5 gallon. I just decided to do a top feed after this grow. I'm a perfectionist and bucket temps are pissing me off. Only difference in top vs dwc is u need a timer so u can run at intervals and a water pump.

My plan is basically take a 3.5 gallon bucket filled with clay circular drip tubes from general hydro not needed u can simply cut slits in 1/4in tubbing and wrap it in a circle. But basically the bucket with be in a 5 gallon which will run into a catch res. The biggest thing about it is that I can separate my res from the heat and use one small aquairum chiller to keep all my planted happy.

If u decide to to dwc. Do one of two things

1 Use one big res with a few plants also I've seen guys using cooler chests as res and they seem to keep temps a little cooler

2 do a rdwc and make your own chiller.

  7. So I rolled with a the coco didnt have the time or want to take the worry on res temps but I will when the winter comes and heawt is not a an issue. As of now I am running 400w MH , got a 5000 btu window a/c i converted into a portable a/c. I got a hydro farms hood and exhausting with a 98cfm bathroom extraction fan(all stuff i had lying around). I also implemented My Co2 Bag to keep my gir happy.

My bniggest probelm so far has been this dam southwest desert heat. I have had a couple scarses in the room with 100 degree days. I'm getting a 9000 btu protable ac to combat the heat and so i can use my 4in 168 cfm for the light and not the a/c.

I plan to close off the space making roughly a 4x4. My initial thought was to make a swinging door but the ceiling is at a 45 degree angle. I will be sewing together a heavy duty blaand and white tarp and sewing velcro that and lining the frame with velcro, so I will have a flexible seal to run ducting through. The brick wall will be lined with 3/4" thick foam board insulation and covered in mylar to block more of the heat pleauging my room.

That is all for this but i do have some progress pics thanks for any advice or just taking a look.

  8. GOt the new ac unit bigge than expected got a 10K Btu LG protalbe a/c for 150 on craigslist. Wife helped me clean the place up and move out all the old equipment and cleaned up the look and made the room a lot more efficient. The A/C runs great gotta get some longer duct hose for it to have more flexibility.

I wall mounted my inline fan, which I have placed inside a cardboard box and stuffed old towels and sheets to muffle the sound. It works like a charm especially since it neighbors the wall of my bedroom.

SInce the last post it was aabout 20 days or so that i turned the lights to 12/12 on 9/13/15. I had them running on the 400w MH until i saw my first signs of white pistols and flower tops. l switched over to my 600w HPS and the digital ballast. I have since also gone with a SCROG since i was stuck with a small space and wanted to do the most without have a lot of plants. The results thus far have been great, the stretch of the branches and inner nodes has taken off and some got out of control.

I have been sticking true to my CANNA nutes line, and the Coco soiless mix with some added hydroton to the pot. I went from 2gal to 5 gal to 15gal smart pot to make sure the nute uptake and roots could accommodated the growth up top. I have also added Bloom Bag CO2 kit to aid the cola growth.

  11. Love the setup dude great grow! But would it be worth it to try and get light to the bottom of the leaves?

  12. What nutes you running mane?

  13. Lookin great buddy keep the updates coming!

  14. I am using the Canna Coco Line with coco noir , it is the easiest solution mix I have worked with and the outcome partially the genetics but ill post the pics its close to harvest

So its been over a month now and the girl is looking good she has got some tremendous weight and beautiful resin growth definitely my personal best. In the beginning of November wanted to upgrade the light, didn't have the money so i added my 150w HPS next to my 600 to add more light to the back of the garden. Worked perfect, and with the southwest getting the sudden tempature drops in October due to the hurricanes was blessing and no AC for the last month and a half and the room has been 75 highest and 59 lowest.

I have jsut completed the second flush of the Clearex by Botanicare. Love this shit it works good and has a glucose and sucrose dose to et the resin feed and productive.

  16. I took of a small scraggly branch hanging on the side and manicured it to see what it may look like, a buddy of mine had blue power seed he got from the his bag at the dispensary so im going indica this grow. 17. Looks like a winner. Damn that's beautiful.

  18. So it is finally done I cut her down on Sunday the 6th, dam was that a long process and thank god for my wife we trimmed from 9pm to 5am. Spring loaded sheers also were a life saver too, but I will for sure be investing in electric or bowl trimmer. The aroma in the room during the grow and before the harvest was an earthy diesel smell. As soon as we cut the stalks and put them in boxes the room smelled like someone had dumped a bottle of pine-sol on the floor.

I was an idiot and didnt get a food scale to see my wet weight, but no one likes inflated numbers and I only truly care what my dry cured weight is. From that sample nug that i took off about 10 days ago dried and has cured for a couple days had such a nice smoke to if so im finger crossed praying for a pound+ and to have some piny lemony mmmm mmm gooodness! Thanks for keeping tuned ill be back around the 20th with some cured holiday cheer.g
