The awesome truth of self

Discussion in 'Religion, Beliefs and Spirituality' started by pickledpie, Jun 11, 2015.

  1. You are your thoughts. The reality that you perceive as being yourself at least. But these thoughts are not really you. They come from nowhere and return to nowhere, in essence they exist in no place by any means in their true sense. They themselves create a reality by their thread of continuity. Yet destroy a temporal context for apprehension and what are you left with? In no true sense is this reality that is conceived in any sense real. Yet how does one tap into the true essence of mind? Truly there is nothing to tap into, it is rather a release from this apprehension of self. The true self cannot be known conceptually, in fact it cannot be known in any sense. To know posits a self that knows, but what is a self if not a, label thrown upon the vast aggregate of experience forming the illusion of a continuity of being that is individuated from the rest of the world/reality/universe.

If you conquer the mind and exhaust yourself of all delusive thoughts, then you perceive sat and tat. It is the experience of reality without a wall in between. Then one is one with the Tao. Such a person is never born and never dies. Such a person does not exist. Those who have ears, listen!

  2. yes, we are a tool of evolution

  3. Is evolution an entity? What exactly are we to be a tool of it?

From my point of view, evolution, as it pertains to humans, is a dimension of motivation of the universe. And we are in essence (tools) or vessels, with the ability to process both information and emotion, so that "the universe" can experience and learn from itself.

That's how I perceived your post. Everything tht motivates us only serves the expansion and diversification of life

    did I misunderstand?

  6.
Not entirely. But, you describe evolution as an entity, and distinguish an "us" that is affected and moulded and used by evolution. The universe is in flux, we see patterns because of our relative and subjective immersion in this reality. In reality, with no place of reference, there isn't a single thing occurring. For something to occur, there must be apprehension of things, yet all apprehension does not reveal the true state of things, because we only perceive in the context of our own conditioned nature. What exists without conditioned experience of it?

Indeed. Yet, how aware is the universe of it's own motivations? How aware is the universe of itself?
