I have a garbage bag full of stems, help me

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Chesire57, Jun 11, 2015.

  1. Hello, So i'm pretty new to the making of edibles. but i do have experience with eating them.

So i was given a garbage bag full of stems and i want to make edibles with them. Im not sure how much it weighs its just a garbage bag full haha. Ive been doing some research on how to make them but im not getting the answers im looking for.

How would i go about turning these stems into edibles. I was thinking about some brownies and rice crispy treats.

What would be the best kind of oil to use or should i use butter?

How much stems to how much oil? Considering i'm not 100% on the potency of them stems i want to "over do it"  cause id rather have a overly strong product than a product thats not potent at all.

Also i'm not sure on temperatures/cooking times. I know that is the most important part in the process.

So any tips/recipes you have would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Like just stem, no leaf? Toss it in the compost. Extracting what little cannabinoids in there wouldn't be worth the effort.

  3. Definatley do not toss it... If you have a garbage bag full that is. While they may not contain too high of a concentration of cannabinoids, they still are there. Something is better than nothing.

  4. I've fucked with stems a few times, you'll pull more chlorophyll than cannabinoids. Any oil I've made from them gave me more of a headache than a high and for edibles you'd need to use too much fat to soak all that material and end up with some weak ass shit. Worth a try if you want to experiment but a 1/4oz of good weed will be easier to work with and give better results.

  5. it is a lot of fucking work dealing with just stems compared to what you get out of it. there is no easy way to process them all. imagine getting less then 1% yield. there isn't much in there man if anything at all. i see a huge disappointment coming your way unfortunately.

no matter how i try and figure a good easy way to make it happen, i just keep coming up with how much fucking work it will be to get such a small ass return. i just don't see any real way of making it happen.

i would love to see you make it happen though and i myself think you should keep trying. you never know man, you just might come up with something after all. [IMG]

  6. It is probably a bad idea, and you would get better results just buying 1/8oz of kind bud.

BUT if you absolutely must proceed with "operation garbage bag of stems" then your first step without question should be to process the stems into hash, to separate the tiny amount of THC medicine from the fibrous plant material. Then, cook with the hash according to your favorite hash edibles recipe (ask if you want to know my favorite).

  7. I would melt down a bunch of coconut oil, or butter.  I prefer working with coconut oil, and toss in as many stems as possible, stir often and cook for as long as possible.  Maybe even take the old stems out after a few hours and replace with new ones.

  8. I feel like I saw something about a way to extract the thc from stems using a coffee pot.

  9. Get a garbage bag of ice and throw em in the washing machine. There's gotta be at least a gram in there... If that's worth the ice and effort

  10. You can cook them in oil , strain, then keep the oil. There's practically no thc in it but it helps with pain.

  11. Please let us know what you do and how it works out. I have never seen a bunch of stems without some bud still attached, or some kief mixed in. Ice water hash will get anything coating the stems. Good luck.

  12. This exactly

  13. TOSS them into the compost heap!  There's about zero of anything left in them after harvest, and not much before!  Stems are the highways, buds are Home.  Shake are the little streets from the highway to Home (also called sweet leaf and trim).  You can figure it out!  :)

  14. Ok, this is gonna be a lot of work, so prepare yourself. You put the stems in a food processor and grind them into dust. Then, you can put it in your pipe and smoke it, or sell it to the kids at the local high school. Tell em it's kief. Good luck!

  15. this right here. [IMG]
